Introduction
I recently made a thread on p mods & the forums and in that thread I talked about black markets. It only just occurred to me that there is a far easier, better and cleaner solution to the problem of name selling without the requirement of a middle man.
Background
So for some context, it is not against the rules to sell names just like it isn't against the rules to swap GP between games. Name swapping is the easiest solution to the problem of bots sniping names before they are taken buy the real buyer. It is completely unfair and leads to a lot of scamming as the name seller could run away with the GP or the name will be sniped by a bot meaning the seller has just lost out on a trade.
My stance on the situation
I do not advocate for the hoarding and selling of names, but the current system is basically allowing bots to snipe names and makes the market very scammer friendly. It was bad enough that the requirements for the previous name releases were abysmally low. We need a way to swap names legitimately since it isn't against the rules.
How can we fix this?
My solution is very simple. Allow for a page on the website in which you can deposit GP into a sort of coffer using a GE NPC on either game. This coffer can then be used to buy and sell names. The way the names would be sold would effectively be a trade of GP and the buyers previous name for the new name.
So say my name is Ownage and I wanted to buy the name Nagini. I would send a name swap request to the owner of that name and they would receive an offer on a section of account management. They can then accept this offer and boom the names are instantly swapped. Throw in a few confirmations to stop mistakes happening. This GP can be taken out from the coffer using in game NPC's in whichever game they want.
This means there is basically no way the name can get sniped as it is never made available. It is straight up just swapped between the accounts.
Feedback welcome
