I thought of a great idea for an updated appeal system that will resolve a lot of conflict with people who break game rules willingly versus people who might have been unfairly banned or made an honest mistake. here is the proposal:

1.) Re-vamp the appeal system so that a person who is trying to appeal a Ban it would take them 30 minutes+ to fill out and make it super tedious. The reason for this is that honest players who just made a mistake or were unluckily banned for no reason, would 100% fill out this super tedious form because they enjoy the game, it was an honest mistake, and most importantly they probably wont do it again.

2.) If this new appeal system was SUPER tedious and takes forever to fill out, like a super questionnaire/ paragraph answers as to when/why/who/what/where/etc. the offense occurred, then no one would ever want to fill it out even once, let alone twice and it also shows the employees at Jagex that this person actually really cares about Runescape and their account and most likely wont commit anymore offenses.

3.) Additionally it would help separate out the botters, cheaters, and other returning offenders from one time offenders. No repeat offender or botter will be likely to repeatedly fill out this type of super tedious appeal form just to cheat/bot again and get banned again.

4.) In summary i think a system like this would be a lot better than what is currently in place, since of as now there is little to zero support for people who get banned/appeal denied. You can see posts everywhere on Runescape forums of tons of people posting about unfair bans or "Lack of support" "Zero support", its also everywhere on other platforms like youtube, twitter, Reddit, etc. I think if this idea was Polled, it would pass with 80% or better, most the community just wants to play cheater free and some people like me want accounts back that got perma banned without being able to talk to anyone about it.

Jagex/JMods have spend 20+ years knowledge, and community experience, into their detection system as well as player support exploring all directions/ways combining that with tons of suggestions and it is a swift and sound system that helps to get the truth to surface in a few minutes.
Even now they already have bild themselves a new directive for the future of new devices/hardware/software.

As this is a suggestion, I've moved it to one of the feedback forums.
Please remember that the Account Help section is for getting help with your own specific account issues.

Is the problem with how you submit the appeal, or how the appeal investigation is conducted after the appeal is submitted?

The JMods reviewing appeals don't usually have a need to read whatever was written in the appeal, they are concerned more with what the evidence on their end shows. Anyone can come up with a story about why their ban was issued in error, but the ones who get unbanned should be the ones that were actually incorrectly banned (and not those who didn't know the rules, were correctly banned and are asking for a second chance). In my eyes, making the appeals process a pain to fill out just for JMods to disregard all information you submitted seems like a waste of time for both parties.

With that said, if the appeals process on Jagex's end isn't fully checking that the offense is correct (e.g., is only checking for simple stuff such as clear signs of hijacking but isn't going as in depth as the original investigation that led to the ban in the first place), that would be a huge problem and should be addressed. I would hope that isn't the case, but I like others have seen the occasional case where someone appeals a ban, gets denied, and later has that ban overturned as it actually was wrong.

To me, you're looking to address the wrong end of things to change - if there is some kind of issue with the appeals system, it isn't with how you send the appeal, its what happens afterwards.

Hey, appreciate the sentiment here - there should be a good way to identify bona-fide players rather than bot owners, I think the Jagex Account goes some way into this (with authenticator etc).

Whilst an interesting suggestion to make things 'more difficult' on the appeal, this doesn't really solve the problem - ironically just making the appeals system more difficult to navigate. Sometimes the most simple approach is the best one, and also have to take into account you shouldn't have to 'fight' or write essays to get an account back.

If I was going to change or improve things, the system needs more 'people' reviewing and resolving - maybe a new function for experienced PMods to assist in the appeals process to reduce some of the burden?

Fully agree though - there's just too many bots...
Just a kinda fun-guy. Guess that makes me a mushroom.

Well there are multiple HUGE problems with the current appeal system and i can provide a large amount of evidence to support this claim.

1.) First off, the current appeal system has no way for the player owner to defend themselves at all, its just the Jagex moderators doing an "investigation" which they most likely dont fully do always and their word is god and there is no rebuttle after their verdict. The player can NEVER contact any type of support via phone, text, email, or anything at all to explain their situation. So thats a huge problem right there because i play a ton of other games and ALL their support systems offer something where you actually talk to a human about a problem and its always been resolved.

2.) Secondly, Un-warranted bans happen all the time and those players get zero support. Framed one of the biggest OSRS streamers got banned for no reason at all and talked about it on stream and youtube, but because he is such a popular streamer he got unbanned in 2 days. So without a real support/appeal system where players can communicate with the company, they are just screwed by biased judgement.

3.) lastly, I have seen tons of accounts who actively and openly cheat/bot and keep getting their appeals accepted for major offenses over and over. This tells me and others that the Jagex's account community is corrupt, dont care, and cant be trusted, because why are you guys unbanning repeat offenders of botters over and over?
