11-12 years ago was around the time that Classic (RS1) became RS2. My assumption is that you made a Classic account when Classic was still 'Classic' and similar to what happened when OSRS was released, you had to start from scratch because that account was pushed into RS2 and subsequently RS3.
Try logging into RS3 on that account and see if it's level 47 like you remember.

When RS2 was released all character stats were copied to exist in both RS2 and RS1, however your items would only exist in RS2 and you had to click a button in your account settings to get everything in your bank moved to RS1 if you wanted it there.
Any account that didn't log in to RS1 in the first 1-2 years have had their stats reset. I don't know why, but that's what happened.
