Anyone here into astronomy, space exploration, the search for life off planet earth?
We live in a pretty exciting time for this kind of stuff after 50 years of somewhat stagnant progress since the apollo missions.
Humans will very likely be occupying the moon in the next 5 years and possibly going to Mars in the next 10 years where we may even find signs of extraterrestrial life...

if only nasa had more funding l over to elon now anyway
i cant wait for this new telescope to be put into action the pictures from that should be amazing. october 2021 it should be launched
Hopefully, but ive heard the James Webb telescope has been delayed many times. It's pretty cool that its going to be placed even further out than the moon in a heliocentric orbit about 1.5 million km from earth where it will take infrared images of the early universe further out into space than anyone ever dreamed possible.

Mars can be a test run to see what we're capable of, but there's no future on Mars.
Its fair to be skeptical of humans ever colonizing Mars but at the same time it almost seems like its inevitable. All it will take is finding a reason to go there, we find signs of alien life having existed there, or we find some resource or commodity worth bringing back to earth then its just figuring out the logistics of how to get there and survive there which we are already doing.

Well good luck to you living on a planet with no protection whatsoever from the solar rays.

im sure things can be invented so solar rays arent so bad? Maybe ?
There are ways just a matter of choosing the best solution and developing it. I think the real issue is gonna be not going crazy in that isolated environment. They are gonna have to invent subspace communications in order to let me play runescape there at least

What are y'alls opinion on Space Force?
Its just the Air Force Space Command(which has been around since the 1980's) getting upgraded from a service provided by the Air Force, to its own independent branch of the US military.
"Initially formed as Air Force Space Command on 1 September 1982, the Space Force was established as an independent military branch on 20 December 2019, with the signing of the United States Space Force Act, part of the National Defense Authorization Act for 2020."
I am not really too bothered by it since it basically does all the same things as it did before but under a new name.
