AFAIK none of the pmods lost their mod status for breaking one of the most important rules of runescape when they got banned. We should look up to these mods and take their actions as forms of approval that abusing bugs in RuneScape is an acceptable action.

Therefore only one can assume being banned is a precursor towards getting your mod crown.
