Forum 'Highlight' System
Hi there!
As you may have noticed, we’ve introduced a new feature to the RuneScape forums to make reporting serious forum issues more private and secure for you all, and to allow us to deal with your reports more efficiently.
If you look below the avatar on a forum post, you will notice a link that says ‘Highlight’. Pressing this button when you see a MAJOR forum issue will create a report that is sent to the Jagex Community Management team, who will take a look at the post.
This feature is to be used instead of the ‘Forum Emergencies’ thread that used to live in the ‘ Contact Us ’ section of the forums.
Please remember that MINOR forum issues are still to be posted in the Forum Help thread (also in ‘ Contact Us ’), so that that the Forum Mod team can take care of them.
Highlighting a thread doesn’t mean that your thread will be made shiny and more noticeable – it means that when you press the button, the thread will be sent to us here at Jagex, so we can take a look.
Some of you may recognise this feature from the Clan Forums – a similar system has been in use there for a couple of months, and has been working really well.
If you highlight any threads that don’t fall within the categories described above, these reports will be ignored, and as the issue won’t have been posted in the Forum Help thread, no action will be taken. While we don’t mind the occasional incorrect report, players who consistently send us incorrect reports or misuse the Highlight system will have the ability to highlight threads removed from them, and temporary forum bans applied where appropriate. Please also bear in mind that the Highlight system is not the way to send us account issues. You can manage your account through the website or seek help and advice in the Account Help forum .
So, what counts as a MAJOR issue?
✔ Serious offensive language - Racism, sexual language, highly offensive material etc.
✔ Item/Password Scamming - Posts with genuine attempts to deceive.
✔ Account Sharing/Trading - Posts asking to share or buy/sell accounts.
✔ Websites/URLs - Posts with suspicious websites or URLs in them.
✔ Personal Details - Sharing off-site contacts/discussing specific personal details.
✔ Moderator Issues - If you believe that a moderator's decision was incorrect and should be reviewed by the Community Management team.
MINOR forum issues that need to be posted in the Forum Help thread:
✔ Spamming/Thread Derailing - sustained attempts to disrupt the forums.
✔ Persistent flaming – Without any seriously offensive language.
✔ Mild Offensive Language – Mild swearing, bypassing the filter
✔ Thread Content Copying
✔ Thread Title Changes
✔ Moving Threads
✔ Locking a thread
How to use the system to let us know about serious forum rule-breaking:
1 – See a post that falls into one of the categories for a MAJOR forum issue.
2 – Press the ‘Highlight’ link.
3 – Select the category that best fits the problem.
4 – Press the ‘Highlight’ button at the bottom of the report.
Please be patient when reporting threads to us. We will deal with them as quickly as we can. You only need to escalate a post ONCE. If no action is taken, please don’t escalate the post again. This won’t mean that any action will be taken, it will only serve to make the CM team grumpy!
Cheers!
