my accounts no longer valid?

I played years ago. When mother died had to stop to create homestead. Now interested in playing so have been checking out the accounts (total of 4) I use to play with. I discovered 2 of these had "unavailable" names and were given numbers instead. Had to use "random" to create new names for these two accounts. Still cannot get in. Used my email address, received notice from Jagex I could change password, did so at url given. Still cannot get in as I'm told the name/password is invalid. What happened? How can I correct this and get back into these two accounts?
