Will you consider removing the Araxxor kill requirement for "The Famous" title in order to get the Comp Cape? Or do you believe this will make it too easy? Many players will find it much easier to get the cape if the requirement was removed.

We are looking to make the current challenge a trimmed req (otherwise keeping it as it is) and then add in a completionist challenge, which includes nine monsters and no Araxxor. That will have less XP and slayer points, and a new title (which will automatically be unlocked by those who did the trimmed version)

Any news on seren stones/corrupted ores?

The smithing xp doesn't really stack up for a level 89 smithing requirement.

Even just making them more common at higher mining levels would be enough.

We created Seren Stones as a new high level mining alternative. We'd designed it to focus more on the mining skill but wanted to give a little bit of a smithing bonus for those that mined there.

We have no plans to increase the amount of smithing XP you'll gain from the Seren Stones.

I know this isn’t really a question but I’d like to get this nipped in the bud - I hear this usually takes you guys a year to fix. I’d hate to toss an elite. ^.^

I don't have too much to ask after all the previous q&a's, but how is the response thread to all the feedback points going? I am quite excited to read it =)


I am so close to finishing it! It will be sent round the team, we will all give feedback on it, and my plan is to get it live before the weekend. I want to apologise that it has taken so long. Scrum 2 are so so busy, fighting bugs, finishing Batch 2 and occasionally saving the universe from alien invaders. It's a tough life.

the 91 thieving spot gives way too many sharks and forces me to bank 1-2 sometimes even 3 times before i finally get caught 3 times, could you make the rate of getting sharks a bit lower on the 91 thieving guys?


The aim of the new pickpocketing mechanic was to make it less click intensive and not to create a 'AFK' training method, so having your inventory fill up helps with that.

However, we are reviewing the drop tables.

1, Will elf quests at least up to Within the Light be marked as 5th Age? It makes sense as they are required for WGS , a 5th Age marked quest.

2, Did Mor(v)ran lost his left eye in the battle with Tyras's army and Iorwerths?

3, Can we tell Endw(y)r the emissary that we saw her god (well a piece of hers)?


1. 5th Age marking is something I would like to do, but it's not being worked on yet. My focus for it would be quests that narratively lead up to 6th Age content, not mechanical requirements.

2. That sounds a good theory!

3. We haven't done much 'post-city' dialogue, talking to people outside the city about our experiences in the city. It's on the list for large batch of elf changes, but it's dependent on time.

1) Why was the Thieving level required to pickpocket Iorwerth elves raised from 86 (as stated in Design Document 2) to 91?

2) Can the left-click of the crystal teleport seed please be changed to take players to the tower of voices ground floor? It used to have a left-click teleport to Lletya, but now it has an annoying interface when left-clicked.


1) I've answered this better in the Release FAQ which should be going out either today or early next week, but the short answer is because during development it made sense to put the new elf pick-pocketing at a higher level. Look out for the FAQ.

2) The crystal teleport seed is intended for use in getting around the clan areas, and other locations outside of Prif. The Tower of Voices is already well-served with the lodestone.

We'll let you know when they've all been found. If some aren't close to being found, we'll (eventually) give hints. They're not really easter eggs if we just tell you what and where they are days after launch - they're there to be discovered.

What was the idea behind having 8 dark beast task as a comp req? seems bit random to me


It was one for each clan, sort of like a nod to Clan Iorwerth once more protecting all eight clans (rather than being in a war against the others).

Would you be willing to consider making pickpocketable elves more visually distinct from attackable elves? Perhaps the latter could wear their respective clan capes?


The combat elves differ slightly with the wielded weapons (and farming elves have tools!).

It's not a bad idea though, I'll raise this with the graphics guys.

- I'm not a fan of that approach. I would like more elves to talk and hobnob with, but these elves have more important functions. I could misclick when talking to them, which would be a frustration. Still, more interactible characters and environments is something we have in mind for batch 2 and some minor improvements for Batch 1

Do the deathtouch darts count in getting "the famous" title?


Using a deathtouched dart means that any boss kill made in the next 15 mins will not count either for Soul Reaper kills count or Morvran's dark crystal challenge. You could use a dart on Araxxor, survive for 15+ mins against Araxxi and then kill Araxxi normally, but you'd have to survive that long, which is maybe possible, but unlikely. However, that is only theoretical and untested, so if it didn't actually work, it would be pretty rage-inducing to discover. I would not advise doing this for this reason, unless you're happy to waste a dart to find out for yourself.

Why did you make wealth a completionist cape requirement? (Rush of Blood)


Players have managed this with level 80 gear, both among players and in our QA teams. Strategies will develop over the weeks, and this is only the first week - there will be guides appearing soon. We are monitoring things, and we are interested how the items coming with batch 2 - attuned weapons, combination potions - have an effect on this.

Can you please make spirit seeds obtainable within Prifddinas? It is currently quite difficult to unlock the Prifddinas spirit tree due to the rarity of spirit seeds.


Management of Miscellania is an excellent way to obtain spirit tree seeds (I personally have loads banked).

We can consider adding it to the Prifddinas loot tables, though.

Will players have to redo w20 platinum rush of blood and the hall of fame challenge to complete the elf task set in batch 2?


I think if we asked for that we'd be lynched. There is currently a planned achievement related to Rush of Blood, but it won't be 20 waves again. Everyone who has been struggling with 20 waves shouldn't have any trouble with the achievement. That said, the achievement set is still being designed, so it might not make the final cut anyway.

Will you nerf the completionist requirement for rush of blood? If yes, when and how? It's clearly luck based atm.


It is interesting that some players feel it is wealth based, others luck based, and others lag-based. Others are fine with the challenge!

Guides will pop up over the weeks, but players on our staff and outside of Jagex have managed to complete the challenge with level 80 gear. Expect the batch 2 combination potions to help, as will Motherlode Maw and attuned weapons. Plus we are monitoring the situation, rather than make kneejerk reactions.

Another question about seren stones.

When multiple people are mining them, you will randomly stop mining them every few minutes, usually 1-2, 9/10 times the stone isn't finished or onto a new stage.

Is that a bug and will it be looked at, or is it an intended feature to keep them sociable?


The Seren Stones are covered in corruption. As you mine them, you'll see a slight graphical change as you mine the corruption away - this is what causes you to stop mining (the state of the rock changes).

We're currently looking to extend the time it takes for the rock to change, though. It still will change state but it won't happen quite as often, especially when loads of people are all mining together!

Do the Five Finger Discount Auras help when pickpocketing the elves?

Can some water sources, cooking ranges and possibly a general store be added to the elf city?

Any way you could give the Crwys some sort of crystal additive, that when mixed with super compost increases the base yield by + 1?

I can't think of a reason the Thieving aura wouldn't work. Although a different implementation of pickpocketing, it still runs through the same core code as 'normal' pickpocketing.

We'll likely be adding some water sources, say to Crwys and Meilyr, where they'd be needed. Ranges, probably not. What use would a general store be, do you think? anything they sell you could stock up on and access from one of Prif's many banks.

Maybe after batch 2 we can loot to see if there are other additions we could make to the city. It already brings a lot, though, and we don't want to overload it.

How exactly is it going to work tho? Will it return to us automatically like a boomerang? Or do we have to pick it up every time we throw it?

We'd love to, but there are already enough pengs and they are already generous with the XP. We don't want to move one of the current spawns inside of the city because that would take it away from players who can already access it (but who can't access the city). So, as much as we'd want to see a crystal penguin, we'd have to first justify adding more XP gains to that D&D.

Some houses cannot be entered around the city. Do you plan on letting players explore these houses in a future update? If so, would you add stuff to them like a range or water source?


As for your first question, we may look at opening these houses up in the future, potentially with a batch of elf improvements we are collecting from your feedback. That's dependent on time - it's a little low on the list, I will admit.

In terms of the range, there will be one in Ithell, and we will be adding water sources throughout the city.

Possible to give the bonfire in tower of voices a 10% xp boost to cooking like a normal bonfire? And maybe make the bank a little closer to the bonfire?

The bonfire is pretty close to a bank, but we knew that we wanted to make the fire in the Max Guild that little bit closer, as a reward for players who have maxed.

The cooking benefit was a conscious decision. We wanted to make the city the best place for a number of skills, but players did not vote for Cooking to be one of those skills. For that reason, we decided not to add the boost, so people still had a reason for leaving.

1-3 are answered on previous pages I believe. Maybe 4 too, but I'll start there.

4) It's one of the feedback points we've collated. I don't know when, but it's likely we'll do something to make them stand out more.

5) You can get them in the city already (from birds' nests dropped while woodcutting). I'd advice doing Managing Miscellania - you can get lots of nests every week from that minigame, and I find I often get at least one spirit seed from my weekly haul. You only need one (and protection payment).

6) Same answer as for Q4.

Thank you so much! It was such a labour of love for us, and the developers, artists and testers deserve so many props for what they managed to achieve in under a year.

Oh here's one; is there any particular reason the main seren shard on the 2nd floor of the Tower of Voices is always hovering over the Iorwerth icon?


You know what? That's just one of those things! I didn't realise it happened, and there was no forethought in it.

OR you actually killed Seren in Plague's End, and the Dark Lord is now in the Tower of Voices.

Why would you add T70 and T80 weapons even though it's a high-level content area? assuming most people are maxed cb and already own T90 items/armours?


It's just not the right place to be unlocking post-80 combat gear. The city, while exclusive, does not warrant us handing out level 85+ gear. What the weapons do offer, however, is welfare gear at those levels with a neat niche (the agility bonuses).

Wouldn't a ToW tele make sense so you could quickly use the last charge to tele to the tower for an Eluned recharge at least? I think quite a few people would like more fast teleport options really though, the lodestone is nice and all but it's a slow teleport.

Would it be possible to make the Elven grimoire change you to "Normal magics" before going onto "Ancient Magicks"? As it stands at the moment, it will change you from Lunars to Ancients before Normals, draining your prayer in the process which is a little bothersome.

Question: Why do you guys catter for the complainers and change the comp reqs? Cant you just leave them as they are? You are going to upset alot of people by changing the reqs. It's a COMPLETIONIST cape, meaning you MUST BE AN EXPERT IN ALL AREAS! DONT LISTEN TO THE COMPLAINERS! If they cant do the reqs, they shouldnt be able to wear comp cape, dont make the comp cape be a joke cape again..


It's still a trimmed comp req (I am assuming that you are talking about the Slayer Challenge changes).

We discussed this at length as a team and it was the fairest answer. Comp players have already completed Araxxor, so we know they can do it, so it seemed superfluous to ask them to do it again. Plus - and I have seen this in action - she is impossible to beat on laggy connections. We felt this accommodated for that.

What Mod Osborne meant to say was that it already IS a ranged weapon, and it degrades like all the other crystal weapons - it's not thrown ammo like darts and throwing axes/knives. The level 70 versions are already in-game. :)

If we were to... say.... get a TON of people to support the idea of a Crystal Penguin in Prifddinas? Would you let us have one?

I know that currently with only batch one this might be a bit too easy, but with batch 2 it shouldn't be too gamebreaking, especially if it's a 1 pointer.


You know what? I get the feeling that Player Power is going to become more Player Powery soon. Look out for announcements at Runefest or on the livestreams.

How powerful will the attuned weapons be in comparison to chaotics and other tier 80 weapons?

Will the impling spawn dungeon in batch 2 be instanced? i get the feeling that catching one of every impling will be a comp requirement and i don't feel like racing to get impling spawns will make a very friendly atmosphere, although i do love the elf city, the work and dedication that has gone into it is clearly visable and amazing.

Also now that the special assignment is being changed will the players that have already done it get a additional reward?

other then that keep up the great work :)

i personally am looking forward to the prayer and agility clan in batch 2.


It will not be instanced, but it will be exclusive. It will dramatically increase your chance of seeing a crystal impling in particular.

The players who have completed the original challenge will keep their Famous title, while those who do the easier challenge will not unlock that title. Also, the completionist version of the challenge will deliver less XP and points

Can we get an option to select the first special slayer challenge from Mor*ran on demand please? I've gone through over 1k slayer points trying to get it and it seems too lucked based.

Happy after the first it can be random again but it's very irritating trying to grind out this and the dark beasts for getting comp back.

The system we have implemented is that you become increasingly more likely to gain the challenge after completing slayer tasks for Morvran, to the point where it is guaranteed. Cancelling tasks does not make it more likely. My advice is that you complete tasks and it will come naturally!

For the dark beasts, I recommend preferring dark beasts if you have not already.

Two things. one are you guys going to add the herb patch in the city to the remote farm? and off question i made a video for the Elfie comp and i was wondering if it counts towards the comp and if so where can i post it cause i spent a good amount of time on it and i think you will enjoy =D

Can any of you confirm how rare the Crystal Impling is in Puro-Puro?
I have caught 10 Dragons and 5 Kinglys (Plus over a hundred Magpies) over 3 days without seeing a single one.


They are either as rare or slightly rarer than kingly implings. I don't recall off the top of my head.

I can see how you can think that, and there are equally outraged and vehement people on the other side of the argument.

My feeling is that you cannot discount people who simply do not have fantastic connections, and Araxxor truly tests that.

This approach is fair to both sides, as Araxxor killers can lord it over their friends with The Famous title and their trimmed req done.

Although AFAIK there isn't a bug with the rewards from the challenge - what bug are you referring to?

You get some XP and Slayer points. There was a typo-like bug where more rewards were referred too, but we've changed that text as there are currently no other rewards. The title unlocks fine too, AFAIK.

If we poll its obvious the EasyScape option will win.

Heaven forbid Comp cape requires a SHRED of difficulty to be maintained/obtained.


This will be my last post on the issue, as it can quickly get derailed.

You have to question what constitutes comp and what constitutes trimmed. Simply put, compers themselves do not even have a consensus on this. People are adamant on both sides.

As it stands, compers have to do Boss Slayer Araxxi and a difficult boss slayer challenge here. I am okay with that.

Is there some kind of trick to pickpocketing Elves?
I have 99 thiev, ardy cloak and Exoskeleton.
It takes quite some time until I get the 1st strike but 2nd and 3rd lol.. Im not even gona tell you guys how fast I get them


It's appropriate that it is easier to be caught as the elves become more and more aware that you have your hands in their pockets. Once the four other clans come in batch 2, you'll be able to cycle through the whole city, thieving to your heart's content.

Will you make the Elf Clan Capes slightly brighter? They look really too dark ATM.


This feedback came up in the thread (possibly by you?) and it was the only time we have seen it mentioned. Basically, our QA team have gone to look into the issue, but our general thought was that they looked good. Still, we are investigating.

Can we get an option to select the first special slayer challenge from Mor*ran on demand please? I've gone through over 1k slayer points trying to get it and it seems too lucked based.

Happy after the first it can be random again but it's very irritating trying to grind out this and the dark beasts for getting comp back.

Complete Slayer tasks, don't skip them! Skipping doesn't increases you odds of gaining a special challenge. It does become guaranteed after enough tasks (only 10 if you have 99 Slayer, but it could be offered sooner).

- Would it be possible to set a toggle to the task challenge completion message to point to the one in the Tower of Voices rather than the one in Burthrope once you unlock access to the tower?

- Would it be possible to make corruption ore slightly easier to get? As it stands the exp/hr is much lower than any other smithing method that requires a much lower lvl even with Seren Voice active.

- Could you add more brighter colored (hidden) titles for future ones? The current ones look rather dull.

- Could more varity of seeds be added to the Crwys Workers? Maybe a rare chance of higher lvl seeds like Torstol, Dwarfweed, etc

- We are working on something similar to this as a bugfix
- Our intention was that the Seren Stones was a mining method. The smithing XP you get from Seren Stones is a bonus, and not a viable smithing method. Some have misconstrued this, and are calling it low, which I can understand. It's just a nice gift for staying here and mining.
- That's an interesting idea. I will note it down. I suppose we should make sure that we don't burn into any retinas!
- We are looking into that. Yeah, I would like more variety in those drops.

Mor*ran apparently has a bug when it comes to handing out slayer points. On normal tasks he gives out 20 points but on my 10th tasks he gives me 87. Could you send the bug team in to teach him some math?


It's a known issue that we'll get to as soon as we can. We think it might be to do with either extended or preferred tasks, but it requires investigation.

Comp players have already completed Araxxor, so we know they can do it, so it seemed superfluous to ask them to do it again.


A lot of comp capers account shared for their Araxxor kills.

This req put them in check as it stopped them from leeching (as it has to be a solo kill) and would force them to actually do the boss legit or risk their account once more.

A player aiming for comping in the future will only need 1 kill for Araxxor: Reaper + Challenge at once.

I think this change is unnecessary.


I can see how you can think that, and there are equally outraged and vehement people on the other side of the argument.

My feeling is that you cannot discount people who simply do not have fantastic connections, and Araxxor truly tests that.

This approach is fair to both sides, as Araxxor killers can lord it over their friends with The Famous title and their trimmed req done.


You cant remove a comp req because of people who have bad conections.. So you wont make any comp reqs that are hard because few people might have connection problems? I thought completionist cape was supposed to be hard..

Thank you, I urge anyone to see how dark they appear to be on low detailed graphics (which is what I use). Idk how they look like in high graphics, though.

The portals in Max guild to nex and araxxor is broken, if you go in either u cant click the ward/web to Enter the boss room, would love if you could fix this :)
Also a question, what about making so you can restore prayer and summoning points in Max guild?
Also one thing ive Been wondering, do you have a % on chance of Saving a log on bonfire?

We're looking to add a few extra things to the Max Guild, but this is likely to be coming for Batch 2 or even later in the year with the feedback changes we make (we're super busy at the moment!).

As for the logs, I'm sure you'll all be able to work out a rough estimate when training on the bonfire :P

I say we poll this to get a fair decision.


Polling it wouldn't really be fair either. Everyone who can do will vote for no change, and everyone who can't do it (or could if they really tried, but who don't want to try) would vote to change it. That wouldn't really tell us the best solution, it would just tell us how many players feel they can/can't do it.

It's something we just have to make a decision on in the best interests of the player base as a whole.

Where do these Seren stones come from?


The ones in Trahaearn mostly come from in and around the Poison Wastes, but they could be found all over the place (though the highest concentration by far will be in or near Tirranwn).

Anyway for my question:

Voice of seren improves gold rock chances for any skills in that area or just the area specific activities?

Would that mean if i clean herbs at the voice of seren area i would get the boost or not?


The Voice improves chances of the gold rocks associated with that clan - so only Mining and Smithing rocks while in Trahaearn, etc.

Not sure if this has been answered yet, but:

Is it intentional that you stop mining seren stones part way through if multiple people are mining the same stone? This is sort of annoying, especially since I thought in an earlier Q/A it was said multiple people have little/no effect


We are looking at this. It is a technical issue because the environment changes model, and the game is finding it difficult to re-op that stone. Basically, we plan to improve it but are ironing out some tech issues.

One more question seeing the reply on the first one, when you enter the gwd portals you never lose killcount, say you finish a trip and teleport with 400kc, the next time you use the portal you keep the 400kc and it keeps stacking up, is this intentional or a bug?

Is there anything that have effect on rarity of dg rocks like complexity, teamsize, percantage floor done or which floor? Or do you just want to complete any floor as fast as possible?


Nope, none of that affects it. Complete a floor, chance at rock. Fast floors is the best way. We'll probably be adding a chance to Sinkholes too.

Off the top of my head, I think the current chance is 1/5, and we'd likely have that same chance on Sinkholes (so there's ~40% chance you'd get one from your two daily sinkholes). But for now, yeah, fast floors. :)

The system we have implemented is that you become increasingly more likely to gain the challenge after completing slayer tasks for Mor*ran, to the point where it is guaranteed. Cancelling tasks does not make it more likely. My advice is that you complete tasks and it will come naturally!

For the dark beasts, I recommend preferring dark beasts if you have not already.

How will the tier 80 weapons released with batch 2 differ from the tier 80 weapons you unlock from dungeoneering?
Will we still have a reason to go for chaotics?
Likewise what would be our incentive for using the new crystal weapons instead of chaotics?

Will bugs like the slayer master challenge rewards be fixed with the Monday's patch notes/update, or would we have to wait for the elf improvements already mentioned?


We've got a number of bugfixes coming your way this Monday. We'll continue to fix bugs whilst working on Batch 2.

Some bugs are considered low priority/more a feedback point so these ones may come with Batch 2.


Although AFAIK there isn't a bug with the rewards from the challenge - what bug are you referring to?

You get some XP and Slayer points. There was a typo-like bug where more rewards were referred too, but we've changed that text as there are currently no other rewards. The title unlocks fine too, AFAIK.

That was overlooked. We're considering ways to implement either free changes or a discount, with some sort of upkeep or cost. We like that it's a bit of a money sink.

Does slayer helmet 15% damage boost work on Mor*ran's special challenge?


Only for creatures that count for your current assignement.

EDIT: Which would be the task, of course. But no, it doesn't count, as it would be abusable - i.e. intentionally not completing the challenge so you have a permanent damage boost against Araxxor.

Would you please consider making the total luck in Rush of Blood, not total luck? I'm fine with the timer, fine with the waves.. But the total randomness of it all is not a very good design.

It's things like this that get people to break the rules just to get their capes back. You can't tell me people didn't account share the Araxxor requirement for 'the Reaper' title. What would stop them from doing it for this?


Each wave can be defeated in a roughly equal amount of time. If you know the best techniques against all the creatures that spawn in there, then the difference in time to defeat each wave will be minimal. Individual skill far outweighs any luck factor in terms of completing the challenge.

Will you consider removing the Araxxor kill requirement for "The Famous" title in order to get the Comp Cape? Or do you believe this will make it too easy? Many players will find it much easier to get the cape if the requirement was removed.

1, Will elf quests at least up to Within the Light be marked as 5th Age? It makes sense as they are required for WGS , a 5th Age marked quest.

1) Why was the Thieving level required to pickpocket Iorwerth elves raised from 86 (as stated in Design Document 2) to 91?

2) Can the left-click of the crystal teleport seed please be changed to take players to the tower of voices ground floor? It used to have a left-click teleport to Lletya, but now it has an annoying interface when left-clicked.
