Quite an (in)famous location, no doubt you've heard of it. No, really, you've probably heard of it, it doesn't matter what your noble, social, or economic standing is. Spirit-world-bound warriors in a random cage in deep wilderness sometimes talk about it. "The Land of Death", some lovingly refer, and others just call it "The Sun". Fewer still like to call it "home". Had you experienced it in its hayday, no doubt you're one of the two extremes. You were forged in that peacefully chaotic tavern, at the mercy of the ocean so-to-speak. The ebb and flow of violence and buffoonery, the tranquility of an atmosphere that never quite settles. Even now the tension in the empty tavern is thick enough you could cut it with a knife.. or two, or three, or-- hey, how many do you have? With the traffic that the Rising Sun got, there were so many conversation pieces held by Kaylee, Emily (fondly referred to as 'Jas') and Tina, however there's one quote that became very commonplace.

"Why do they keep saying we're an Inn?"

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen and cleverly-disguised divines, to the Rising Sun. Its doors are open (as if they ever really closed), and the business has come under new-old management. Receiving a shining smile from the manager and the eerie feeling that the beast at the back is watching you, grab a seat and enjoy yourself! Nearly anything goes in this wicked building, with the only rule being DO NOT KILL!

The Rising Sun is managed by RiDaku and defended by Vile, both played by RiDaku.

Manager - RiDaku

An ex-Worshipper fanatic , this eccentric dragon-lover loves dragons. Enough that he's partially redecorated the Rising Sun with some of his collection, all of which he'd be happy to tell you about! He's not much for fighting, instead wandering around the tavern and striking up conversation, or having a light drink with patrons. He's here to learn bout Falador and figured the best way to do it was take up residency in the most widely-discussed bar while it was in its prime. He's very open about himself - He hung mostly around Misthalin for the majority of his early life, loving the adrenaline rush of sneaking in to the Wilderness. During the Worshipper invasion of Misthalin, he was awe-struck by the fearsome Prometheans and decided he wanted to be one. Without joining them, because they're too intimidating for him. He's got a pretty cool replica of their helmet, though, wanna see?

Bouncer - Vile

This one needs no introduction. "Lord" Vile, back in his time amongst the Asgarnians, was a terror of this bar, and has come to serve as the protector of the Rising Sun as he did so long ago. From vigilante to manager to King, this is the Titan himself, indulging in nostalgia that only he can grant himself. Donning old Shadow Guard armor from his time in the Ryders, he stands out amidst all the brilliant white brick, inhabiting a very specific square at the back of the tavern where he can best watch over everybody. His job is to remove any undesirables, and he brings with him all the might necessary. If you're a Person of Interest, he may be open to conversation, but for the most part he's as still as a statue.

Bartenders - Emily, Tina and Kaylee

You don't know them? They've been here since the Rising Sun was founded. They diligently do their job of bringing your food and drink.

A long-time staple of the Rising Sun is that people are not only permitted to, but in fact encouraged to vent their frustrations on each other. There are limits to this however, and these limits are non-negotiable to the highest degree. Remember when I said there's only one rule? I lied.

1. Vile's Might is only purchasable upon the entry of a higher-tiered patron (Examples; Halflings), and the steroids may only be used against said patrons due to the enhancements provided. Breaking this rule earns you a beatdown by the bouncer.

2. Any large-scale destruction of the property (broken steins/plates are expected, we're talking tables/doors/windows/etc) must be paid for by the offending party. It will be assumed that things have been paid for upon going OOC.

3. For the sake of the other bargoers, try to bring armed fights outside. The perfect place is behind the bar, between the tavern and the moat. Loser swims.

4. (IC version) Do not kill. The body count this tavern has is unbelievable, with Vile sheepishly admitting to a majority of it, and in a more refined effort to stay.. yknow, NOT a slaughterhouse, any attempted or successful murder will be met with proper persecution by the bouncer.

4. (OOC version) The exception to this do-not-kill rule is if all involved parties agree that death is okay. Consider this a consent rule - Anybody not agreed that finds themselves getting killshotted is encouraged to
change the resulting damage to something non-lethal,
and should the offending party be uncooperative,
void the encounter in full.

5. Recognize that there will be a variety of people coming and going, ranging wildly from local humans to otherworldly Dreams. By no means are you required to add these encounters to your character's story upon exiting, but please have the decency to not cause a fuss. We're here for fun.

The Rising Sun is well-known for its long-standing enchantments, defenses and wards implemented to help keep it from suffering under collateral damage. For posterity's sake, they'll be listed here, as well.

Anti-Fire Ward

"But Daku," you may wonder, "Why would a building made of stone require further fire-proofing?" The answer is, not all of it is fireproofed. The building's main features may be brick and stone, but the tables are all wooden, and the worst type of damage is collateral. Because of this, despite the actual properties of the furniture, the only things that aren't protected by anti-fire wards are the torches and candles that light the place at night, as well as the fireplace installed on the second floor. More on that further down!

Teleport Block

Touched up since it was installed, this is a powerful seal that blocks all attempts to access Law magic in full. This includes but isn't limited to telegrabs, teleports, teleothers and telepathy. The improvements on this ward, as done by Daku and controlled by Vile, are that it can be de- and re-activated when needed. Because of this, you're welcome to exit the tavern via teleport, read minds, whip a mug of beer across the bar without touching it, and all that good stuff! The Block will only be activated when undesirables need to be dealt with.

Arcane Locks

This is usually combined with the
Teleport Block
, and when coupled with
Stormshield
can be considered a
total lockdown.
The Arcane Locks effectively magnetize the doors in to a shut position and hold them there, preventing easy entry/escape.

Stormshield

Large metal shutters that can be drawn over the open backing of the Rising Sun, and over the windows, these help protect against sieges and heavy storms.

(Continued)

As well as defenses, the Rising Sun has been fitted with some upgrades for socializing and providing better in-house entertainment! Are you getting tired of colored text yet?

Fireplace

I was going to do some great description, but I'll run out of text for other things, so here have this 5 minute MSPaint drawing that I poured my soul in to.

The Dragon Wars

Well, Asgarnia got ransacked by a dragon at one point, and so now dragonslaying is all the rage! One thing that's always important, even for a slayer, is that you sit back and admire just how bloody magnificent those creatures are. As a once-upon-a-time Worshipper, RiDaku's collected and displayed many nifty things, including;
1 Replica Royal Crossbow
1 Dragon-headed staff
1 Replica Dragon Longsword
1 Replica Promethean Helmet
1 Stuffed Red Dragon head
3(!) Dragon scales, two black and one green
All of which make great conversation pieces, and probably have a story behind each one!

Board Games

While there are plenty of people that like fighting, there are just as many who don't. We've got you covered. Aside from the usual tavern necessities (newspapers, other people, dart board), we've got some board games in from Burthorpe! These games are
RuneLink, Draughts, Runeversi, and Runesquares.

DISCLAIMER

The Rising Sun and all staff working in it aren't responsible for any stress, paranoia, mental or physical damage, death, decay, or drunkenness that may come to bargoers.
