"Come, come... Sit dearie. Let Granny tell you a story, before you sleep tonight. A tale of fire, and desire. A tale of blood, and ire. A tale of love and hatred. A tale for curiousity to be sated.

Tales of the true nature of mortality... And the place of mortals in our universe."

Welcome to Tales of the Dark.

OOC Information

Welcome to Tales of the Dark! What is this, exactly? It's an idea that hit me over the head one day in the middle of September. If you've ever seen Treehouse of Horror, you know Anthology and Halloween go together fairly well.

However, this isn't your Simpson's Holiday Special. This is going to (mostly) lack the humour of one.

How does this work, then? Every RP session is an isolated horror story, meant for less than five people, wrapped up in a lovely little package. Aside from the storytelling, these stories are not connected intentionally. Each should be wrapped up in a single roleplay session, planned for under four hours each.

As far as Nat's go, the stories are also each a different sort of horror. And death, is almost certainly assured. Speaking as the GM, if two people survive any one story, it will be a surprise.

Given my schedule is wonky, I can't assure any advance planning for these rps for certain times or dates. Suffice to say I will do mine in order from October 1st, to the 31st.

Lost from the Flock

''And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.

Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.''
- Luke 15, 9-10

A Girl has gone missing from Taverley. As her mother, alone, panics, many from all walks of life, peasantry, knights, clergy or merchants, decide it best to explore the Leurcsi Manor where the trail leads.

But the Leurcsi were well known, decades and decades ago, for the horrors committed on their property. Some say they feasted on human flesh. Some say they raised the very dead to serve them. Some say they courted with Demons, and some even say Zamorak himself.

But these tales are all hogwash, surely? The mere machinations of the dull, bored peasantry, needing some pleasure of story in their poor lives?

Fairly simple this time. Any character looking for a paycheck, by saving the missing girl is suited. Or anyone concerned enough to do it for free.

Roster:

Armand Talbot - Merchant - 27
Detective Albus Wells - Peasant - 45
Danald D. Rumf - Merchant - 71

The Shattered Asylum - Hobie

“You’re mad, bonkers, completely off your head. But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are.” - Lewis Caroll, Alice in Wonderland

Up comes the sun, the end of night. But not for the Shattered, the broken, the tortured souls. An asylum of the damned, forgotten to history. A troubled missionary has been deployed upon its rediscovery, gathering a group of strong wardens or like-minded people to defend him as he attempts to calm the dead that haunt the asylum’s halls.

A Saradominist Missionary has say on who joins, but is looking for the best people to defend him. Do with that what you will.

Roster:

Henrietta Payne - 62 - Peasant
Sir Arthur Rayte - Knight - 27 - Shattered Asylum

Carnival of the Damned

''Let me tell you a tale for a penny!
One that you can not hear anywhere else, not anywhere else.
I heard from a birdy it doesn't end purdy, it doesn't end well.
No it never ends well...'' - Penny for a Tale, Devil's Carnival

The fall of Sliske was a relief, to many. The Mad Mahjarrat was not well-recieved, his love of games to trigger a new wave of fighting between Gods.

However, this merry band of murderers, convicts, and carnies longed for Sliske to stay, still. Once followers of Deborah the Dollmaker, and her Puppetmaster, they tormented the earth. Now, they lay in their circus, poor and without direction.

Without discipline. Slaves are kept caged, as future stage props. The Carnies themselves now take their small group within shelter, as the storm rains, down, down.

Justice will be served. But Justice is blind.

Special Application, please mention whether your character is a slave or a Carnival member, for this. It's important, as the slaves aren't initially armed.

Roster:

Mylo Moore - Slave (Former Noble) - 36
Michael Easton - Noble (slave) - 30

Lovesick

"Since you've gone I been lost without a trace / I dream at night I can only see your face /
I look around but it's you I can't replace / I feel so cold and I long for your embrace /
I keep crying baby, baby, please!" - Every Breath You Take, the Police

A story of love and loss, of one who is sickened by heartbreak. Romance is perhaps the scariest of topics for the average Roleplayer, so it is only fitting a love story would be included, of course.

But when it is found a killer might separate a pair of young lovers, bloodying the streets of Sarim, the people take action!

Characters looking for: Townsfolk and Sailors alike who wish to stop the killings.

In Search of Mylnhta - by Eridyn

''At night, when the moon is full and the fog rolls in, shall ye' hear the cries of the forgotten,
when the light of lantern's flame doth sputter out, will ye' see the veil of Mylnhta.
When the cold kisses yer skin, and ye' know the pain of loss, will ye' know despair,
and when yer' soul is thinned, and not long for this world, will ye' find Mylnhta.
But seek not the veiled woman, for yer' loved ones are all around you,
only when yer' cold and alone, should ye' go in search of Mylnhta.''

As people continue to go to the island of Farhaven and never return, an adventurer has decided its for the best to arrange an investigation. And so a ship was chartered...

Eridyn has done a phenomenal job illustrating this, so I won't make an attempt to butcher up quotes, and instead link to his own post here.

Fisher of Men

''The sea is a cruel mistress. You can love her, you can hate her, but you can never trust her.'' - Old Sailor Proverb

Requires the Quest Sea Slug to be started to participate. It has one requirement, 30 Firemaking.

At an old fishing rig, some deep sea fishers feel a storm in their bones. The time has come to buckle down for the night, and prepare for the weather. But when a ship from the far, far east comes... Nobody was prepared for what happened next.

The Characters would need some reason to be on the fishing rig. Either merchants (inn keep, general store, smithy, tailor) sailors, or fishermen.

Roster:

Stephanie King - Merchant - 25
Louis Coral - Fisherman - 51
