Kingdom of Kandarin

“Power swells the head and shatters the Crown.”
-Unknown, Year 169 of the Fifth Age

Kandarin, the prodigal kingdom. In less than one century since the Dreaded Years of Tragedy did a small township of Ardougne grow into the colossus of the west, hammered by fate and split apart by plagues and secrets. The twined capital is a jewel in a crown stretching from Yanille to Catherby, and almost brought to ruin by Imperials and the wretched Kandar Empire, were it not for the will of the people.

The revolution was swift, led by those who were invoked by the political turmoil that threatened the rule of law. It only took a month for the enemy to be routed by those who came back bloodied by a self-indulgent war, carted in irons to their former palace.

A new man now sat in the throne, with the sceptre in his lap and a head adorned a wreath of gold leaves; Percival Damocles Mox. He looked down upon them with eyes flowing with scorn and disdain.

“Man, by nature, does not deserve everything. Not even those who are burdened by the crown are given such a right. So high and mighty you were and thought that all of this precious world belonged to you alone, walking upon the bones of others to claim what you falsely believed was a birthright.”

Percival arose from the throne and silently drew a thin wand from his jacket.

“The People’s Council had decided to have you all hung by your entrails, and the corpses paraded through the city. But ultimately, the sentence is up to me.”

From the left he knelt down, pulling their heads upright with a strong tug before putting the wand to their necks, producing a magical blade from the tip. It only took a flick of the wrist to finish each one off.

“...and I don’t desire you to become martyrs.”

Kandarin is reborn under the rule of a new king, unburdened of the sins of the empire. But what sins are to come?

Welcome to the player-owned Kingdom of Kandarin! After a turbulent time, the largest kingdom on Gielinor is finally in a fresh pair of hands and is ready to be remoulded for the new age.

The premise of this group is creating a stress-free roleplay environment where one can enjoy all the different themes of daily life under a monarchy, from a commoner trying to live off the land, to brave knights defending the crown. General State of the Kingdom

War Status: Low - Vekon forces have been dissipated from the Kingdom. New Model Army now in complete control of all major settlements.

Food Status: Stable - Generous donations and the opening of new trade routes have mitigated the risk of starvation following the Civil War. Grain stocks are secure and set to last until the springtime harvest.
Health Status: Notable - While the risk of starvation has been averted, winter is expected to bring a rise in premature deaths amongst the elderly.

Crime Status: High - New Model Army still imposes martial law in more remote regions of the Kingdom. Rumors of a secret "Inquisition" to root out Vekon insurgents persist, despite official denials by parliament.

Financial Status: Average. Tax income remains stable but tied up in the military.

The Monarch
- Percival Damocles Mox (Void) - King of Kandarin, anointed by the transitional People’s Council.

Heir Apparent
- Vacant - The Heir Apparent is the eldest living biological heir to the throne. If no suitable heir is appointed upon the vacancy of the throne, it defaults to the bloodline of the Dukedom of the Crownlands, unless the previous monarch specified alternate rules of succession.

Duke/Duchess
- 2 Occupied, 1 Vacancy - The regional affairs of Summerwyn, Norwasten and the Crownlands are handled by a respective Dukedom, invested with judicial, economic and military authority to ensure the will of his majesty is enforced and the peace maintained. These dukes may also be independently assigned secondary positions in the court.

Minister of the Crown
- Vacant - A culmination of lesser offices being merged together, the Minister of the Crown is responsible for the general running of state institutions, such as finance, food production and the civil service.

Court Mage
- Vacant - Essentially a ceremonial position, the Court Magician advises the monarch on matters regarding the mystic arts, and typically has been fulfilled by the guildmaster of the Mages Guild.

Current Status
Active and focused on completing the dissolution of the Kandar Empire, rebuilding Kandarin as a noble state and the reorganization of her administration. With a new monarch on the throne, international relations must be reevaluated and repaired.

Tirannwn
Held in average standing. There continues to be animosity between Kandarin citizens and elvenkind in general, for the acts of clan Iorwerth’s actions against West Ardougne during the elven civil war. There are also historical tensions over claims over land dating back to the time of King Baxtorian’s kingdom. There are also suspicions that the attempted assassination of Chancellor Cynfor was perpetrated by the Kandar Empire, making diplomacy difficult.

Kingdom of Misthalin
Uneasy. The Vekons constantly threatened Misthalin with military occupation following the Liberation of Asgarnia. The dissolution of the empire may relieve tensions, but mistrust between the two will take time to heal.

Kingdom of Asgarnia
Tense. While the dethroning of the Vekons and the dissolution of the Kandar Empire may relieve King Jeoffrey, Asgarnia still has an uneasy relationship with the people that annexed their lands only a year ago. Despite this, Jeoffery and Percival have been on good terms so far.

The Kingdom of Kandarin will be operating under a zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment. If you're unable to restrain yourself, or can't refrain from pressuring other members of this roleplay group OOC, then you won't be welcome. Such behaviour is not acceptable.

IC Prejudice is considered non-canon.

Having been playing RuneScape since 2006, never once have I seen any lore where (melanin-based) slavery or racism, general sexism, homophobia OR transphobia exists. As such, all references to these things in-character (not strictly limited to interactions, either. Racist stereotypes will also be ignored,) ranging from excessive slavery to flippantly/aggressively referring to someone based on the colour of their skin or their gender, will be scolded and should the guilty party not cooperate, they will additionally be purged. Honestly, guys. Prejudice that reflects on the flaws of the real world does not belong in RuneScape.

Summerwyn

The large, beautiful expanse of lush forests and wildlife. The province once known as Arenvale, Summerwyn marks the southern frontier against both Elven Tirannwn and the Ogurs in the Feldip Hills. This makes Summerwyn a boiling pot of both culture and conflict.

The primary city within this province is Yanille, regarded widely as one of Gielinor's magical centres due to the Mage's Guild. The second point of interest is the port-city of Khazard, which houses the main shipyards for Kandarin’s Navy.

Ardougne and the Crownlands

For centuries, the Crownlands has been host to the centrepiece of Kandarin’s wealth, prestige and lore. It has served as the capital since Kandarin’s unification in the early Fifth Age, and has always been the home and seat of the greatest monarchs to rule the land. Having lasted through countless wars and feuds, even surviving a harrowing period of deception by a false plague dividing the city, The Crown never seems to falter here.

Ardougne, the capital and a hub for all trade in Kandarin with its renowned market in the eastern-half of the city. Recovering from the false plague and Vekon corruption, West Ardougne is a mixture of slums, military barracks and state offices.

The city is bordered by Witchaven, a small port-town of fishing and suspicion, and Hemenster, a small fishing village north of Ardougne and home to the Ranging Guild.

Norwasten
At the northernmost side of Kandarin, Camelot’s civil unrest was the spark that ignited the revolution, and was rewarded with it’s sought after independence. Despite this, Norwasten is still a strategically important region for Kandarin. The province has historically been subject to the tension between the more northern Fremenniks, given their position against Kandarin's border.

If you wish to join one of our casual RPs on the fly, then do so! You're not required to be a member of the Kingdom of Kandarin to participate in them.

However, an Official Event will require you to have at least registered a character with the kingdom beforehand.

Characters who wish to join are encouraged to submit an in-character letter here on the forums, to the King, stating their name, interest in becoming a citizen of Kandarin, faith, and experience. If you are familiar with letters of intent then this is essentially a short version of such a letter.

After the letter is received, a date and time will be organized for an introduction roleplay (this may also be part of an official event), and if your character is accepted by the Kingdom they can begin their life anew in Kandarin. You only need to do this once, as any future characters afterwards can be introduced IC.

Additionally, either before or after the letter, please fill out this tiny form so we can add your name and character to the census (Multiple characters will be listed under the player's name.)

Jus Primae

The Jus Primae is the legal and representative basis on which the transitional People’s Council agreed upon for the dissolution of the Kandar Empire. In essence, they are five fundamental, nigh-irrevocable pillars of law that the Kingdom of Kandarin is built on.

"Every person accused of a crime has the right to a fair and open trial, on the principle of innocent until proven guilty, with a lawful trial conducted before a Judge, the Nobility or the Monarch."

"No man, woman, or child of any race shall have their right to speak freely within the Kingdom of Kandarin restricted, so long as they do not contravene the other laws of the state."

"No creature capable of intelligent thought shall be bound into a state of permanent slavery, servitude, conscription, or indebtedness, and the state shalt not support those who wish to impose such behaviour.”

"The state shall be duty-bound to use its influence to secure the personal freedoms and protections of any Kandarin citizen beyond its domain, should their liberty or freedom be jeopardized."

"None of the pillars of the Law Prima shall ever be repealed, annulled or left unenforceable by the Monarch or his Government."
