So it begins...

It started with the return of the Order of the White Flame from across the border. All at once, without warning, the full remaining force of the holy crusader army marched back across the border to build a camp nearby to their former headquarters at the abandoned monastery. Their arrival was expected it seemed for they were joined swiftly by a host of Kinshra knights, answering the same call. As the two armies joined forces under the direction of an unseen commander the camp was expanded, with weapons and materials delivered daily to the encampment from their benefactor in the north.

There was no announcement, no declaration of intent in those initial days, and the area, which had not been repurposed, was too remote to draw immediate attention. Still, inevitably it was not long before the lords of Lassaria started to become aware of the incursion even in spite of these factors. Of course, their first assumption was to assume that Lord Pyro, that ever-present threat from the north, was in charge of it all only to see this claim vehemently denied by the camp dwellers. Lord Pyro was funding this effort to be sure, but no, it was another claimant that the army was gathering. The only "true" claimant to the throne, it was said by those officers, knights, and nobles that claimed to have seen him.

Certainly, a royal guard had formed around the monastery, inside which it was claimed the heir was being kept safe, bidding his time until the moment he could reveal himself. Acting impetuously, several local nobles demanded to see the new King for themselves against the wishes even of their own advisors. Those same men were even more astonished when some of those men returned to say that the stories were true and that they would be staying at the camp a while longer. The others that returned reported that they could not quite recall what they had witnessed as if it were an intangible dream that was slowly slipping away. Evidently, they had been unconvinced by the new King but still seemed certain that they had met with someone other than Lord Pyro that could stake a claim on the throne of Asgarnia.

Soon after the propaganda machine of the Zamorakian Empire went into overdrive. Though the identity of the new claimant to the throne was not named, imperial agents across Asgarnia set about the work of laying out the grievances against the current king. The banishment of their beloved queen, and of many other nobles and officers that had served in the saradominist army of the White Flame. They painted the King and his newly reinstated ally Viktor Valengale as the blackest of criminal conspiracies, reminding the populace of how the King's friend had executed his subjects without trial, sided with the Kandar Empire to deprive them of their freedom, and even betrayed his own kin in the pursuit of power. The two tyrants they were named by the empire's malcontents, men recruited with care over Jacob Delvar's many years of rule and paid directly from the coffers of Lord Pyro.

And of the new alliance in the north, they spoke of a restoration of the ideals of Raddallin's age. The reunification of Zamorakian and Saradominist armies under a new king who would lead them against the grave threats that endangered the kingdom. Lord Pyro had deceived them, they admitted. But what had he done with his time as their ruler? Nothing but to risk his own life to defend theirs, time and time again. When dragons came to burn their homes he slew them armed with nothing more than a pointy metal stick. When the Kandar Empire moved to absorb the kingdom into their own bloated realm he tricked their garrisons into the jaws of the Kinshra. And when the Temple Knights and their White Knight allies showed their true Zarosian colours he returned to put down the threat before it could cause any further damage. Now those same Zarosians had been allowed to seize power once more, re-installing their illegitimate military dictatorship over the land. And once again Lord Pyro would support the ruler, whose claim eclipsed that of the pretender on the throne and ensure Asgarnia's freedom and prosperity once more. -OOC bit-

So yeah Pyro has pulled out all the stops in support of a mysterious, unnamed claimant to the Asgarnian throne. Suffice to say for now that anyone who visits the new would-be king and doesn't sign up is having considerable difficulty remembering what they saw while they were in the monastery.

Also as some will note, parts of Pyro's propaganda campaign are rather toeing the line of what is actually true and some parts are simply blatantly made up. But it's propaganda and it's all IC so what can you do?

This thread will now serve to record the actions of, and events surrounding the upcoming asgarnian rebellion. I hope all involved have fun and enjoy themselves.
