The Curse of House Ryker
¨˜`ˆ''°º*°\|/°*º°''ˆ´˜¨
Immortality is an easy thing to take for granted. You figure, you've got forever, what's a little mistake here and there? But that's the thing about forever, the choices you make, the people you lose, your mistakes are indelible, with no sweet death to erase your memory. You may think the greatest reward of eternal life is the power it gives you. You're untouchable... The power is a perk, something to make your endless passing days more bearable. But to rule the world alone is worthless for the prices you must pay.
Eternal life at the price of a blood sacrifice beneath the full moon. Not a lamb, not a cat... Human blood, on the Altar of Zamorak. This halts the aging process, miss a sacrifice and the aging process will continue until the ceremony is completed again. This is your curse, this is your choice. Live forever through a river of blood or shrivel away in age. In week immediately following and proceeding the ceremony, your senses will be heightened, you will be stronger, you will be faster, and you will become volatile; more cruel... more evil. Refuse the ceremony and you will no longer suffer these side effects.
Why do we still linger? Why don't we surrender ourselves to becoming human and forget eternal life? Because we ARE human... Our desires are overwhelming. That thing we buried down deep, deep back in the darkness with everything we have. We're secretly hoping to see that the monster inside each of us is inside us all. There it is, look hard enough, you'll see. We will all be seen.
Sincerly,
Oliver Ryker
For some of us that journey takes us on a hidden path, through a darker forest, or, instead of answers, we find a whole new set of questions.
