The Swordpoint Coalition is a professional mercenary band that seeks only the glory of gold and prosperity for its members through honest labor. Swordpoint considers those who employ them not customers or contractors, but valued benefactors. With each job, Swordpoint strives to complete their assignment with the utmost precision and work tirelessly to ensure that each coin is earned -- not stolen. In addition, a strict code of honor is upheld by each mercenary, on or off duty, in order to preserve the well-groomed image of the entire coalition.

All walks of life are welcome to join the ranks of Swordpoint. Regardless of culture, race or creed, anyone will be able to find a brother or sister among their fellow mercenaries. In Swordpoint, camaraderie defies every aspect of diversity.

-Swordpoint Explained-


A Swordpoint contractor is oathbound to adhere to the three following tenets upon joining:

HONOR
A Swordpoint is to uphold the highest degree of honor he or she can muster. This means that whenever possible, avoid all forms of collateral damage, do not take from innocents, do not maim or kill without cause and treat everyone -- even foes -- with an appreciable degree of respect.

DUTY
A Swordpoint is to see his or her job to completion, and fulfill their obligations to both their employer and their fellow Swordpoints. A Swordpoint will resist the temptation to take shortcuts to the completion of their task, as any infraction, no matter how minor, may undermine the wholesome effort of others.

LOYALTY
A Swordpoint is to shed prejudices he or she may have against their fellow Swordpoints. Each member is no different from the next in terms of the expectation of unwavering loyalty. No Swordpoint is to raise their blade at a fellow Swordpoint, as each member is a brother or sister in arms -- someone to rely on without hesitation.

After a Swordpoint is sworn in, they are now part of something much bigger than the individual self. Swordpoints work together as a cohesive unity to accomplish otherwise impossible tasks. That is why at the end of the day, pay is distributed as equally as possible amongst those involved. The expectation is that each member pulls their weight equally, so they shall be paid equally. There are rare exceptions for those in leadership and administrative positions who ensure the proper function of a Swordpoint unit, and to those who exceed the bar of expectation in the name of their fellow Swordpoints.

Absolutely no member is permanently bound to the coalition by any means. The final word of all Swordpoint activity falls to the lips of Captain Tamitha C. Volt, the de facto leader and founder of the Swordpoint Coalition. Disputes among Swordpoints that cannot be solved among the belligerent parties and their peers may bring the dispute to the captain herself. Upon doing so, all parties involved must submit that whatever the captain decides, will be the accepted and correct course of action.

Though all administrative, economic and strategic decisions are final by Tamitha's word, the captain will employ specialists in all of these categories to advise and take over for the captain when she is not present. In normal circumstances, the lieutenant colonel acts as the second-in-command, followed by the lieutenants, then lastly by the sergeants and corporals.

Vale Guard
The Vale Guard serve as the elite vanguard of the coalition. They are among the most senior, experienced and dedicated members of the company. They shed all other allegiances and pledge unwavering loyalty to the coalition and no one else. Members of the Guard may not relinquish their membership of the coalition as easily as other mercenaries. The Guard effectively serves as Tamitha's inner circle.

Lieutenant Colonel
The Lieutenant Colonel acts as Tamitha's second-in-command and requires a dedicated individual willing to put forward an active and conscious effort to ensure the function of the coalition. The Lieutenant Colonel also serves as the head of the Vale Guard.

For all intents and purposes, the Lieutenant Colonel serves as both the ooc second in command and the ic second in command. This person must work closely with both the leader, other members and the community at large.

Lieutenants
Lieutenants are the unit leaders of the Swordpoint Coalition. They organize other mercenaries at a smaller scale and ensure unit cohesion and discipline.

It is recommended that Lieutenants are active members of the official clan.

Sergeants
Sergeants are minor leaders of the Swordpoint Coalition. They ensure the safety of their fellow mercenaries and help with squad cohesion.

Contractor
Your typical oath-sworn mercenary working for Swordpoint.

Treasurer
Everyone organization needs to be able to keep track of their gold.

Ombudsperson
A liaison between Swordpoint and potential employers. They update their employers of Swordpoint's current status and negotiate for contracts.

-- The slogan of the Swordpoint Coalition is "Gaudeamus Igitur!"
It means, "so let us rejoice."

-- The standard hire rate for a single unit of Swordpoint mercenaries (~12 men, one commander) is as follows:
30,000 coins per idle day
50,000 coins per guard/escort day
100,000 coins per combat day

A unit must be hired for a minimum of three weeks and a maximum of one year, at which point negotiations for contract renewal may begin.

Rates vary depending on the context of the mission, and discounts may be considered for repeat benefactors.

Early termination of Swordpoint employment is 75,000 coins per day remaining until the end of the original contract.
