Hello, to you all in the community of RuneScape!

I'm (Zev) in this case, but before that I was several other characters prior to 2007. Or in other words an Old Returning Player. I only actually started playing Rs3 recently. About a week ago and it occurred to me how little I really know of the developments the game has taken on the years.

I consider myself an RPer though back when I played years ago, RP didn't really seem very prevalent, so I lost touch a great deal on Lore of the world. But I see this forum up and thought to ask some questions to the experts! (You all who commit to RP)

I didn't check every post on the thread, because I am currently on mobike typing. And it gets trickier to search the long list. So I'll post some questions here and hopefully someone can direct me!

First question: (and really the main one) What is the current age of RuneScape? And roughly what is the time difference between the timeline of OSRS and RS3 roughly, in years? If such can be determined.

Second Question: Is there any active discord channels one might join in order to communicate more directly with some of you still about making stories for this fun old game?

Third Question: Do people still RP at all on the OSRS scene? Or is it mostly if at all exclusive to Rs3?

-_-_-
My apologies if these questions are answered somewhere in this thread! I just struggle to siphon through a lot of the posts in thread, as much of what I read doesn't seem to help give me the indications I seek.

I certainly don't want to be an inconvenience, but I would like to give the RP thing a shot if it's still a thing!

Thank you all!

White Rose Sanctuary is getting into rp, to answer that question, but I'm not much sure about any of the others. Other people will tell you the community is pretty dead and there's a few clans still around but they're pretty much only functional at a good 10-15%.

From what I've seen, I'd say OSRS has the bias of RSRP activity these days.
"When the Lord made me, He made a ramblin' man..."

"... An Arizona Ranger, wouldn't be too long in town."

Let me start of by saying RS3 and OSRS are in a different universe. It´s hard to put 'm next to eachother but if I had to say something about time; Think of the moment EOC became a thing and OSRS did, after that, they each went their own ways.

As for RS3. It is currently set in the 6th age. Gods came back, fought, died and the many stories of certain questlines came to endgame level conclusions, all hyper influential to lore.

There are a few channels used by groups that are currently active, a few of them holding threads up on the first page of the forums like the Quest Collective and the Wizards' Tower. They have dedicated chatrooms for the talking about lore, roleplay and everything RuneScape. If you want to have a broader channel for this, I advice you to contact someone with the username 'Void' to get invited to the RSRP Wiki's discord channel.

It is nothing exclusive to RS3. Both scenes are active and I'll try to briefly give you a feeling of the 'server condition'. RS3 is nothing to write home about because of a very low playerbase at the moment. It has low activity in the public eye but it's still kicking it on the background.

OSRS is currently being build up by certain individuals out and about. Some of them posted on the forums too. It's certainly gotten more attention over the last month.

I am bad and that's good, I will never be good and that's not bad, there's no one I'd rather be than me.

Thanks both of you for input! Though Croco, what I meant by age was more - Old School Runescape -Was- Runescape at one point. Which means in some way lore must have carried over. Even though some quests have changed and adapted, the world really didn't.

Like for example. Rune Mysteries Quest (Which I've done) was said to be based in the "5th age" Rune Mysteries is one of the very first quests people can get on OSRS since it's original creation in the early 2000s. On RS3 it is considered 5th age. So would it be agreeable to say the game of OSRS though now in its building and bustling community of nostalgia seekers ( like me :P ) in its most original form.. Would it be based entirely in the 5th age of RuneScape -lorewise-

The question or way I asked it may have been worded wrong. Because I went on the idea as above. It should have maybe been more or a .. "How many years have passed since 5th age to current?" which as I now understand is 6th. Is it a generation? 30-50 years?

To my knowledge, it's the Sixth Year of the Sixth Age. Whereas previously Jagex broke time by freezing the year in the Fifth Age and having everything happen in one in-lore year, they've moved forwards with RS3 and the Sixth Age by having it stay congruent to the real-world time. So, every one IRL year after The World Wakes was released (which marked the beginning of the Sixth Age), an in-lore year passes in RuneScape. The Sicarius |
They think they are "the many", and I "the few". They think this gives them the right to walk over me.

So a transition of story ideas plots and backstory could feasibly transfer from the freeze date of Rs2's fifth age onto the current day story line of six years into the 6th age without much fuss? Barring the fact that quests dated in the Fifth age on Rs3 aren't always exactly the same as they were back on Rs2.

Edit: Someone born in the Fifth age, relatively speaking, can still be alive to date, aged by about.. 6 or so years?

Cool stuff! Thank you all very much for your input! I can start working out some personal stuff for character based on these details! Next I'll look into finding people when I'm at a computer. :P I can also read more effectively off the screen that way! Hooray!
