Started to learn to play drums in year 7 and kept up with it through school. Got to grade 6 (out of 8) by the time I was leaving school but that was more focused on the technical learning & reading sheet music, but a year or so in I got into a band with friends, had a few gigs as well so a lot of that was self-taught, like how to use the double-bass pedal instead of single, learning blast beats etc.
We turned the attic at my mums house into a band practice area
Luckily my best friend who I grew up with was also the guitarist and lived next door, so his parents could hardly complain about the noise
Kinda played less and less past 16/17 years old and over time my drums got just got stacked up out of the way.
I did treat myself to a new electric kit last May when Covid lockdowns were in full swing so since then been pushing myself to get back into playing more regularly
Electric kits don't have the same feel, but there's other perks though like being able to tune and modify the sounds of each drum & cymbal which is pretty cool and I like that I can hook it up to my Mac to play along to some old classic metal & rock tracks
I've been playing drums for about 8 years. I can also play piano, guitar, harmonica, trombone, and right now I'm learning violin. Unfortunately the bridge on the violin broke a few hours ago, snapped while I was tuning it.
Piano here.
Just returning to it after a break of 6-9 months.
Was going to learn 'Clair de Lune" but am somewhat disturbed by what appears to be a faded message on the sheet music written in blood.
While im trying to remember wtf that was/is about, I'm going to learn Arabesque#1 instead.
