so I was looking to buy a mx297h and ppl keep telling me it might looks nice but it's garbage for gaming cuz it's like 60hz, they tell me to get 200+hz

what's hz do, why does it matter?

do you really need higher hz for gaming?

i just wanted built in speakers and a nice lil monitor but according to others it's all about hz and nothing else matters?

so iz hz really that important? they tell me hz is almost more important than having a good graphics card? without good hz the fps will be horrible? in other words even if you had a 3090 it would be useless on 60hz monitor?

I wouldn't get too hung up on getting the highest refresh rate possible, 144 Hz is a common figure and plenty high enough for most people. Even 60 is high enough for things to look smooth.

I guess it comes down to what games you play really.
You also have to bear in mind that every game will give you different results.

I think its related to how many times your monitor refreshes itself a second. The more it refreshes, the smoother image you get on your screen.

But you need the right sort of hardware that can handle the refresh rate that you configure your screen to run at.

well was gon play some combat arms but valofe/nexon are a horrible company and I lost one of the oldest accs ever

i wanted to play some unreal tournament but idk how but they closed the servers...

I guess playing some crysis warhead if severs are open would be fun?

do you guys know any games that are similar to rs in a way that they keep the game alive? I want to play something like fps/planes/tanks.

I was gon play some air rivals but the game got closed years ago...

so everything that I was looking forward to playing doesn't exist anymore

I really liked when we had rsc + arcanists cuz I would witch between those and rs2/rs3

I'm not interested in playing a game that will end in a couple years from now, I want a game to keep my progress. This is the main reason why i bought aps3 and ps5 and I never even play it cuz you know they don't care about your progress

I didn't even play osrs until 2020 cuz I thought it wouldn't end up getting closed like all the other projects, I wanna make sure that the game I start playing will stay open for decades

is wow like rs? if i come back to wow 10yrs later will it keep my progress? I also want hiscores like rs has.

All you really need is 144hz, it's a massive improvement over 60hz, 200hz+ isn't much better than 144hz, it's better but depends what you want.

I like my games looking nice at 1440p res, max detail, the pros play on 1080p with low graphics for 280+hz

here's my fortnite running at 165hz with Max settings + RTX settings maxed, as you can see my frames drop due background programs open atm but i do get steady 165 when all is closed, but i run 144hz most days as i have other things open usually.

My Rig is AMD Ryzen 9 3900x 12 core, 64GB ram, Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 Super (MSI trio), win 10 64bit.

In other words, if your rig can't handle running games 200hz+, waste buying a screen that supports it, my screen can do 170hz but some games with max settings, i have to down shadows to reach steady 144hz.

1080p also requires way less computer power so you have a weaker graghics card etc, but 1440p gamming is the best universal for graghics + 144hz, 4k is not really used unless you have a card better than mine or you use lowest settings but every game will look like crap O_o

Also 60hz vs 144hz removes alot of the motion blur effect in games so when your moving fast, that screen glare is removed. I always kept motion blur off for that reason but with 144hz i notice nothing.

And when you get a new monitor make sure you set it in windows settings to 144hz etc, my new screen being 144-170 overclocked was defaulted by windows to 60hz.

Enjoy and happy gamming.
