The above link, tells of a university breed tens of thousands of animals and then killed them simply because they were not needed. Without the news I would not know this goes on in the world and I'm sure this isn't the only university that has done this. There is countless other things the News brings us - the world, our knowledge is better off with people reporting news so we the public are aware what really goes on. It's quite scary to think there's countless other things that goes on that we don't even know about...

While that's definitely something that is an issue, and hopefully will not be repeated, I could have lived quite happily having never known about that lol

I agree there's things we don't want to hear, we want it to go away - rape, verbal, physical, emotional abuse, cruelty to animals (opening post example), how animals are breed, example caged chickens, murder, bullying etc

If the news didn't bring us the facts, if we didn't know what goes on behind closed doors, we wouldn't have improved as a society. So yes it easier to say I'd prefer to not know about it but not knowing about it won't fix it.

It's going to be repeated, if not this university, other universities. They said they are going to reduce the numbers, what does that mean? By 10k, 20k, 40k, what's an acceptable number? Is there one?

Knowing about it also doesn't fix it, our legal systems world wide are corrupt, it's like shark finners, i would have them eater by sharks literally slowly with a doctor on standby(a new type of shark cage will be designed).......i hate people that are cruel to animals. cruel tactics aren't bad if it gains "results in fear" to cause it to stop...would have to do it once, people would be scared to go out that way.

How do you think the sharks feel swimming around,bleeding to death without a fin?....i could openly give such order and no loss of sleep over it.

I don't believe cruelty will ever stop, it's always going to be there. With the press bringing awareness to the world, people are coming forward, farmers are changing the way they breed, more people are fighting for the rights of animals, people and the environment. Over the years we have improved as a society for what is acceptable and what is not; we still have a long way to go though.
