Overshadowed a bit by the new about Olivia Newton John, but Lamont Dozier was an absolute legend, responsible for hundreds and hundreds of songs, particularly with Motown.
He wrote huge hits for The Supremes, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Martha Reeves, The Marvelettes, and many more.
Way too many to mention here but it's a heck of a list:

RIP Lamont
Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?
I had never heard of him until this thread. I checked out some of the songs he had written with the Holland brothers for acts such as the Supremes and I knew a lot of them from when I was young. He was very talented. RIP
I might be wrong but I can only describe it as R&B and gospel music.
Yep, that covers it quite well, R&B, Soul... and Motown became a kind of genre as well as a label. He was huge if you're into that kind of music (as I am).
A prolific and successful writer... and he also had a go at a song all of his own:
Back To My Roots.
