I live 100 miles from there and would loved to have walked down them stairs.

I would hate that, I'm scared of heights. However I wouldn't have been on the ride in the first place! You'd have to sedate me to get me on one of those things.

I'm not the biggest fan of roller coasters even when they're not broken... that would have been a nightmare for me.

Before the stairs, they would have needed to climb out of the rollercoaster; the whole experience would have been crazy scary. No harness, the stair rail was so low it was no help, nothing to hold on to. I am presuming there was no wind?? As wind would make the descend even more risky.
