Were you at Woodstock 1969 in Bethel, New York or Woodstock 1999 in Rome, New York?
What details would you agree to share?
I was in the military in 1969 and nowhere near any part of New York. If I hadn't been in the military, I may have gone. I don't know. I wasn't part of the Hippy Movement nor did I do street drugs. I believed in "Make love, not war" but people started taking that literally.
Vietnam War was in full swing and the young people were demonstrating against it. They wanted World Peace. Woodstock '69 was an effort to reflect that.
Thirty years later, Woodstock was revived in Woodstock '99. Unfortunately, it quickly became just the opposite of Woodstock '69. It turned into a monumental disaster. A very large group of young people turned into a herd of panic stricken, stampeding animals with the same mentality.
In 1999, I was living with my mom who was finding out that she did, indeed, need a man in her life. My dad passed away in 1990 and my mom swore she didn't need a man in her life, but wanted me to move in with her.
I was too old for Woodstock 1999 and had no desire to be there.
Like you I missed the first one, do to being in Vietnam. Did not go to the second one.
Don't ever think the reason I am peaceful is because I do not know how to be violent.
Ekki hugsa alltaf að ég sé friðsælt vegna þess að ég veit ekki hvernig á að vera ofbeldi.
