I just learned about overclocking and I made my dual core go from 3.1 all the way up to 3.55! Not only that buy I also made my ddr2 ram go from 333 all the way up to 400! So this means that it's at 800mhz. I'm going to overclock my 9600gt next.

I did some experimentation between windows 10 and windows vista and I must say windows vista is much smoother than windows 10 when overclocking. Windows 10 gets all laggy and glitchy, it crashes while vista actually becomes faster. Vista is very stabel when overclocking.

Do any of you have any recommendations how I can make my pc even faster? On the java based rs3 client everything was maxed out and I loved it but on the new rs3 client I play on the lowest settings possible and it still laggs!

I just wanna be able to experience runescape in high detail again or at least without any lagg. I really enjoyed playing rs on my note 8 until it sadly passed away and same goes for my beautiful htc one.

So yea if you have any suggestions please let me know. My budget is 50$ btw for any upgrades but other than that it's just me and this old gaming pc from 2009.

No wonder you are always needing a new phone and pc.

I can understand why you want to overclock your pc running Vista because its a shitty outdated OS.

Windows 10 runs fine for me but you need a computer with decent resources ie; CPU, RAM, Video Card.

Whatever OS you use (and I'm not going to get into an argument about Vista vs 10), that GPU is probably going to struggle with RS3 graphics on higher settings. You can try overclocking but don't expect miracles.

Don't forget to keep an eye on temperatures if you go down that road, there's are plenty of apps available to help you with that.

Overclocking means less life in anything you Overclock. So good luck.

Sometimes with older systems and computers it's best not to do any overclocking as it's life expectancy will be far shorter then you expect.

Just make sure your CPU cooling fan is up for the job and that you have enough top quality thermal past on it. Not the shitty cheap past. I mean the top quality Ice Paste. Could reduce the CPU temp by 5-10c or more which helps.

I use Prolimatech PK-3 thermal paste. Works a treat for me and I see temps not above 40c - 42c when running RS3 as well as other programms in the back ground. I have a liquid cooler and radiator with 3 fans to keep my cpu cool.

Run a superior OS that uses less resources, like Windows XP, Microsoft Pocket PC 2000, or Android. If they're good enough to run on mobiles, they're good enough to run on computers. There has to be a reason Google keep selling Chromebooks devices that don't run windows but run Android right? Even Windows 11 has Android built in. Maybe Windows 12 will just be entirely Android, then it'll actually be good!

This is really cool how a really old gaming pc performs so much faster when overclocked but like anything that's inducted power such as turboed engines, body on steroids, etc it will definitely reduce the lifespan.

I am having a lot of fun doing this indeed but at the same time cpu temps are reaching over 100c to the point where pc is shutting off and caused harddisk issues. I managed to get my dual core to 4.1ghz which is extremely high on a stock cpu cooler.

I think my overclocking days are over because I am tired of constantly having to reinstall windows due to the pc somehow messing everything up each time it shuts down. I will however keep the cpu slightly overcooked to the point where it won't cause any crashes nor imbalanced temperatures.

On the bright side my cpu is actually doing a fantastic job and my gpu is really healthy but you know the gpu is slightly worse for gaming at this point. I was wondering why I was lagging on rs3 and after some benchmarking and research it wasn't due to my cpu at all, it's due to my gpu.

I mean the gpu was fine running unreal tournament and crysis back in 2009, I guess rs3 graphics are more demanding now.

I'm really saddened by the passing of my note 8 phone. I loved playing on maxed out settings on it... Hopefully sprint offers note phones again for 50% off soon.

It's surprising how demanding RS3 is, I've got an RTX2070 Super and can't run the game smoothly with everything on the its highest settings.

I just overclocked my dual core to 4ghz again and I ran it at max settings until pc crashed. Well it was fun while it lasted... On the bright side my amazing 9600gt does well while overclocking, it's such a healthy card.

By the way do you know why on windows 10 runescape doesn't let me run because of "security" reasons. I run it on windows vista without any issues but on win 10 there's always some problem.

Sometimes it works after restarting pc but sometimes it simply refuses to run runescape. Oh and btw my gpu drivers are 1.8k days old without the ability update them. Sometimes that pops up on both win 10 and vista.

I really wish they brought the legacy client back or even the browser based one... Those never had any issues and ran smoothly.
