I can't understand how it would work, the first twitter message doesn't physically exist, it's a virtual message on the internet. How could anyone buy it?

Sounds like they have more money than sense. :P

Edit to add: I saw a news report that said the owner will get a signed certificate from the founder of Twitter. The tweet itself will still be able to be viewed publically. Imo this makes the whole thing seem even more like a load of nonsense. At the time that report was written the bids had got up to £1.8 million. Madness! :O
