Congratulations Emma!!
She entered her first US Tennis open as a complete outsider... and won!
Just a few of the incredible stats:
The first British female winner at Flushing Meadows since Virginia Wade in 1968
The first qualifier in the Open era to win a Slam
The youngest women's Slam champion since Maria Sharapova at Wimbledon in 2004
The youngest Briton to win a Grand Slam title
The first woman to win the US Open without dropping a set since Serena Williams in 2014
The final was incredible and yet again she didn't lose a single set.
...and remember, this is the girl who had to retire from Wimbled earlier this year because the pressure got to her.
Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?

Huge congratulations to her!
I read that she'd booked her return flight for about 2 weeks ago because she thought she'd be out of the competition by then.
A bit of a bombshell eh! I don't follow Tennis very much but must congratulate her stellar achievements, hope she's got the wherewithall to cope with all the brouhaha that's now going to follow her.
As a random aside .... I can never hear about Flushing Meadows without recalling that episode in The Simpsons where Homer is wandering around desperate to find a public convenience and he's getting mental images of that place as a field covered in WC's

There was a similar story about Wimbledon, her mum told her not to bother taking too many clothes because she wouldn't be there that long. Granted, her visit was cut short but she was incredible right up to that point.
