Let's suppose, just for a few minutes, that reincarnation was an option, whether through some type of medical breakthrough, computerized, or however it happens. That part doesn't matter, here. As far as gender, that doesn't
have
to be an issue since, by this time, men and women are finally on equal grounds.
Scenario: The Doctor indicates that you are a high medical risk, your health is failing, or maybe you're having a midlife crisis. You have the option to pass on or have the option to try life again. It's a one shot chance at reincarnation. Which means you can only do this once, not over and over. This reincarnation doesn't mean you're immortal.
If you accept the offer to try it again, you can decide what type of life you want to live, career, lifestyle. In short, a brand new blueprint that you make yourself with the promise that you will be born with all the capabilities needed. Of course, they won't be at your disposal right away, but the knowledge will come to you gradually over the years.
Once you mature and are able to live your new life, there's still an option to tweak a few things, at your own expense since these tweaks were not in your original blueprint.
Question: Would you decide to pass on peacefully or grasp at the opportunity to live the life you have always dreamed of?
I would pick reincarnation. I'd like to have an immune system that was able to fight off any serious illnesses. I think space exploration and being a part of a team that sets up other planets for colonization would be interesting. Hard work, for sure, but I would be sure I was born with the capabilities needed for the physical and mental aptitudes associated to perform such duties.
I would keep my present personality, but would have better insight for making better decisions, based on my previous life.
How about you? What would you choose?
