So i just found out that Steam is releasing a new Switch like handheld called the Steam Deck and its set to ship in December of this year:

https://www.theverge.com/2021/7/15/22578783/valve-steam-deck-gaming-handheld-pc

Theres going to be 3 different storage sizes: 64gb eMMC for 399$, 256GB NVMe SSD for 529$, and lastly 512GB of high-speed NVME SSD for 649$.

It will also be micro sd card compatible so you can add more storage to it.

They also said you'll be able to access your Steam library from it via Valves Remote Play feature.

Whats everyones opinion on this and are you planning on getting it?

Considering its pretty much a handheld computer and it has a built-in cursor, it'll allow you to play online games on the go.

With that, i might try and get one and see if it cant play rs on it and might try out the Remote Play so i can play my Steam games.

It's neat, but it does look too expensive for the specs that are listed. $650 is pretty steep for the high end, and for me it doesn't really make much sense to spend that kind of money on a Steam Deck instead of a Switch. Steam obviously has a bigger library, but the Switch already has most of the titles that are really good for handheld systems and is much cheaper, even the Switch Oled is as cheap as the base model Steam Deck.

Even though I won't be getting one, it is definitely good to see another company start to compete into that market. Nintendo obviously has their exclusives to keep buyers coming, but having another competitor show up on the scene is good for growth for the Switch, could lead to more innovation/better features for future models.

More options for gaming the better.

You can wipe the SteamOS which is based on Linux and install Windows instead and yet you can play games or watching videos or anything!

Exactly.

Which is why im going to try and see if it can run rs as well so i dont have to use mobile.

Thus rs would be one step closer to being on consoles :P
