There are loads films about what would happen if a large object (meteor etc) was on a collision course with Earth.

Pretty much all of them involve us trying to divert or destroy whatever it is... and now that's actually happening:

NASA are going to crash a satellite into an asteroid - there's a really interesting article about it here:

By the way, don't panic, this asteroid is not on a collision course , it's just a test!

I've been keeping an eye on this and it sounds fun.

Not sure why NASA didn't add a few lb's of Semtex or something to give it a bigger bang and prove it can be done.

Yes we have seen it in the movies but they fake it. This is real and I can't wait to see the videos of it smashing into it at over 20,000kph. Thats fast. 1 tiny slip up that and it will totally miss it lol. That would be embarassing for NASA.

Soon see how it goes. Good luck Earth hope a fragment does not head our way. Even though NASA said it won't. You never know. :P
