Apple held one of their big new product events a couple of days ago, and there's quite a lot of new stuff this time, including a new Iphone, new Ipads and a new watch.

40 minutes to go until pre-orders open.

Does anyone plan to buy anything new?

I'm a real gadget fan but Apple prices are crazy nowadays for new tech... I usually buy the "last generation" stuff that instantly becomes worthless as soon as a newer model is announced :P

Happy with my Iphone XR for now, but I'd love an Ipad Pro. Santa? Can you hear me?

I saw that and honestly I wish they'd stagger the releases a bit more.

Like geez, the iPhone... 12? was like just released and now they wanna put out a NEW one??? Already?? We barely got into the swing of the last one!

(I don't use Apple products but my husband does)

I kinda wish they'd release more like gaming consoles do. Every few years or so. I would like to actually play with the one I have instead of just getting used to it only to be told I need the newest one.

Obviously I don't need the new generation, but the point is the same.
Arrr! Only th' Devil an' I know th' where'bouts o' me treasure, an' th' one o' us who lives th' longes' should take i' all.

Yep the Iphone announcement surprised me too, seems like they're going for a new model every year nowadays. =/

I typically upgrade every 2 years or so depending on the new releases and how my current phone is performing, I won't buy into the annual renewal I'm sure they'd all love us to do :P

I bought the iPhone 12 Pro Max last year when it came out so I'm set for a while longer.

Apple certainly know how to market and brand themselves. Their conferences are so polished :p

Pre-covid we'd usually put the event on in work in our games room and watch it live but due to meetings this year (and working remote) I watched it last night instead.

I don't follow iPad or anything too much but do pay attention to iPhone and Apple Watch and this year wasn't anything ground-breaking. Camera improvements on the phone actually seem really good, smaller notch and better performance but nothing that makes me want to jump and buy it over last year so we'll see what comes out next year :P

The new iOS looks pretty cool though

I'm very curious of that cinematic mode on iPhone 13. I have both an 11 and 12, and I can really tell the ginormous difference between the two in terms of picture quality especially when it's darker.

I personally really like the watch, but I only have the older one a 5. They just released the 7. I think the new features on 7 aren't super attractive to me, but 6 has all the things like oxygen sensing that I'm interested in; 7 seems to focus on being outside and working out more, which I wasn't among the folks to purchase a bike and start more outdoor activities during the pandemic.

They also announced some updates to the iPad, but I'm still outdated on that one. I want to get the Pro so I can get the LIDAR one. I really want to try that out.

edit:

Also had my fingers crossed for Air Pods updates. Didn't see or hear anything about that. Someone in my family kindly bought new blue tooth headphones, but they just don't get the sound quality I was hoping for. I think Air Pods will solve that problem.

Compared to previous years, the announcements they had this year seemed lacking in terms of the new features and improvements made. Previously it seemed there was always a big jump in each new model, but that didn't really seem to be there this year. For example, there was barely any differences between the Apple Watch that would make anyone who has the Series 6 get the Series 7; the biking workout updates interested me but those sounded more like they could be done in software rather than needing a hardware change.

With that said, my aging iPhone 8 is about to hit 4 years old and its battery life is starting to deteriorate so I might consider getting an upgrade soon, though at the same time, a previous generation of phone may have enough 'new' things for me that I may opt against getting the latest and greatest model. Still undecided though.

I've never bought an Apple product ever. I know they are superior both in software and hardware, but the devices cost so much.

I've always gone with Microsoft... and in the last few years Android devices.
