Yep thats right Amazon buys MGM for $8.45bn (£5.97bn).

I can't get over the price. Now I wonder if the Amazon subs £7,99 for me will go up to pay for it all. Someone will end up having to pay and I'm sure thats Joe public. :(

I'm not sure I can watch any more movies then I watch now lol.

Thoughts on this and Amazon getting bigger. Maybe to big....

PS. Sky TV can whistle if all the good movies come to Amazon. I'll scrap Sky in a heart beat. :P

This is either going to be great for Amazon subscribers, or really awful.
If all the MGM content is just added at no extra cost, it'll be awesome.

Or... they'll have a new MGM channel that you have to pay a monthly premium for =/
My money's on the latter.

The stuff that the public considers Amazon, the shopping, the films and tv shows, music, kindles, Twitch, etc. All of these have been a loss for Amazon since inception while they continually invest in destroying competition and asserting dominance.

Amazons actually money comes from Amazon Web Services, it's what funds the rest of their businesses.

They'll keep prime subscription cheap until they've achieved their expansion goals and let AWS pay for the losses.

Same. I already see lots of films I'd quite like to watch that I'd have to pay extra to see. If our subscription isn't enough then I'm not giving them more money. I'm not
that
desperate to watch a film. If it is something I feel I must see I usually wait for the DVD to be at a reasonable price then its mine for as long as I want it.
