Some people just amaze me for the wrong reasons:

Newshub: Russian woman sues McDonald's for $19 after cheeseburger ad forced her to break Lent.

This is not the first time people have sued McDonald's or other fast food joints nor will it be the last. On all the cases I've come across I just think really- you are suing a burger joint for your down falls :|
McDonald's has done amazing with it's advertisement, it's worked and because it worked so well people over the years have sued them:

Lawsuit (1973)

In 1973, Sid and Marty Krofft sued McDonald's by claiming that the entire McDonaldland premise plagiarized their television show. ... As a result, McDonald's was ordered to stop producing many of the characters and to stop airing commercials featuring the characters.

In 1992, 79-year-old Stella Liebeck bought a cup of takeout coffee at a McDonald's drive-thru in Albuquerque and spilled it on her lap. She sued McDonald's and a jury awarded her nearly $3 million in punitive damages for the burns she suffered.

N E W Y O R K, July 26, 2002 -- An overweight Bronx man wants four famous fast food chains to pay for serving him the finger-licking food that helped make him fat.

If you Google there will be plenty of cases.

Is it greed?

Is it Fast foods fault?

Should you be able to sue a fast food companies?

What are your thoughts on fast foods, on suing, on their advertisement?
If fat means flavour then I'm ******* delicious!

Sadly it's the way the world is going, and has been for some time... instead of being grown ups and talking responsibility for their own actions, people see a way to make a quick buck.

A lot of this is driven by lawyers who offer to take on cases on a no win, no fee arrangement.
They run ads on TV, in the press, online, everywhere encouraging people to sue.
I've had emails, letters and phone calls asking if I'd had any injuries lately that could be due to someone else's negligence.

I can kind of understand the woman who got burns, but on the other hand... surely she knew that tea and coffee are made using boiling water?

The flip side of this is that there are warnings everywhere, for everything.
I've seen packets of peanuts bearing the words "warning, contains nuts". Loads of packaging is now plastered with warnings about things that are common sense.
Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?

A woman sued a New York Burger King because the Burger King close to her charged 89 cents for a Coke, while the one a little further down the road charged 69 cents. The lawsuit was for $100.00 to compensate her for having to walk the extra distance for the cheaper price. Burger King didn't show up in court and still won the case.

What you need to understand is that in the case of the infamous McDonald's coffee case, you are eating up a corporation's FABULOUS PR team's work if you call that greed or lack of common sense.

There are cases where sure, it's greed, but you really need to analyze the details before you make a decision because in the case with the coffee, it was so hot it left her with horrific burns that she was literally hospitalized for. You can google the images of her burns, they're awful. McDonald's deserved to be sued for that.

It was more than just a hot cup of coffee, hell I've dumped boiling water all down my front and not had anywhere near the damage that she did.
Arrr! Only th' Devil an' I know th' where'bouts o' me treasure, an' th' one o' us who lives th' longes' should take i' all.

Yes, in this particular case, McDonalds was serving their coffee WELL above a safe temperature, about 180–190 °F which can cause unprecedented damages...

"Liebeck was hospitalized for eight days while undergoing skin grafting, followed by two years of medical treatment."

There's a great documentary called Hot Coffee on HBO that explores the case. McDonalds' legal team were quick to try and brand the whole thing as a "frivolous lawsuit," when in reality that's far from the truth.

McDonald's always get a bad rap, but I like a lot of their burgers.

I watched a movie called Super Size Me where a guy ate McDonald's for a month and his internal organs started to fail. But McDonald's isn't all we are meant to eat. Everything in moderation is key.

Super Size Me was a movie that was propaganda but also pointed out the fast food culture in the US.

Edit: I just found Super Size Me on YouTube

Here in New Zealand we have ACC, no suing for accidents. I suppose I may see things differently from other countries.

@Kiwi - Did they have salads, wraps, fruit available when that Super Size me Video was on?? Also by the name of it, it sounds like he super sized everything which isn't the size our body needs. And as you say fast foods is a treat food, eat seldom. Do his outcome doesn't prove anything unless you overeat fast food on a weekly basis.

It was a while ago when I watched it but I think he mainly ate Big Macs and milkshakes all day, everyday for a month. No wonder his health went downhill.

Edit: It was called Super Size Me because in the US they always ask if you would like to super size your order.
