Bumping this.
Even over the last six months, AI voice over technology has become even better. This would certainly help with Jagex's DEI efforts and Accessibility commitments. I think it's a low-cost, easy win for the games and a personalization touch that would make in-game experience even better and closer to what is on the marketplace today, appealing to a wider and younger gaming audience.
For work, I've been working with WellSaid Labs – an AI voice over product – for video voice over. Even subtle differences in accent and personality go a long way. It's quite an impressive an opportunity for the game.
The player personalization of your voice – either choosing a voice that you'd like for your character or speaking into your microphone for AI to match a sample of your voice – would improve in-game player experience. These type of features could always be turned off for players who prefer the experience without.
Lastly, I think there needs to be an overhaul on certain visual and non-visual elements to really make the game more Accessible. Mainly, improvements to text and icon size and color contrast settings across the board, closed captions, and audio narration.
I really do hope changes like this could be implemented within the game in the next few years. Thanks for bringing this up Knack Knack!
