Mementos: Communicate w/ dead

Since mementos pretty much made bones redundant (thanks for telling us to hoard them btw), I was wondering if they could be used for something more? Here's what I was thinking:

You open them (they are letters, right?) and it reveals a message from Vendi, Ophalmi, Sana, Tagga, etc. Where they reveal a secret to you, unlocking their respective skill specific boost. The various tiers of memento would scale with the power of the boost, for example, I don't know, you open a fragile memento and it reveals a message from Tagga, empowering your swing at mining to give a small critical strike chance. A powerful memento that rolls the same god or npc would give the same or similar buff but better. The details can be ironed out later.

Thoughts? Feel welcome to add anything onto this idea that you can think of. Bob says:
