Unfortunately Hero Pass will be removed once this one has run its course.
I too am non-combat driven, so when it comes to the Special Missions, I am locked out of doing them. However, the "alternative path" is simply to do more skilling. Doing the missions only gives a boost to the number of points. However, they're not necessary to do in order to complete the Hero Pass. This is what made the Hero Pass a good system, in my opinion.
The Special Missions are completely driven by new content. If the new content is combat related, it will obviously require combat. However, if it's content related to skilling, then we'll get a skilling related mission. There doesn't need to be a specific non-combat path, in my opinion.
