I would just like to say that I sincerely love the Archaeology skill so much. It really feels like Jagex has put a lot of work on the skill and I can't more than say that I am absolutely in love.

All the different requirements to achieve a new rank in the Archaeology guild is impressively good, it makes players work to get their ranks and makes it is a small journey to reach the Guildmaster rank. The requirements are also a good way of promoting to play the actual game as well, and not just to use lamps whenever they are 75% off in the Oddments store- you'll fall behind with achievement artifact excavate progress, collections, mysteries etc. All which have to be done at some point anyway if you want to get Guildmaster rank.

The digsites are designed very good as well and truly makes a great addition to the game, both from a lore perspective but also when it comes to how they are played. Mysteries that take you further into a digsite, making you wonder what the digsite will surprise you with next. When you in the Infernal site enter a giant domain which may be a definition of hell itself, is impressive.

There is also the equipment such as mattocks, Archaeology outfits, tea, etc which are fine additions to make your character more efficient in the skill or to gain more experience. Especially I like that the Archaeology outfits are purchasable for Chronotes and does not need to for example be bought from Vic the Trader in exchange for bonus XP- the only requirements are certain guild ranks which is fine.

Something that I also like is that the skill is trained rather quickly in comparison to some other skills. It doesn't take as long as let's say Fishing, but still not too quick like for example Prayer at a gilded altar; or Smithing with Protean bars.

Overall once again I love the skill a lot and I love how much there is to do in the skill to keep you occupied for a long time.

Archaeology is my favorite of the newer skills, for many of the reasons given in the OP. The developers did a great job in capturing the thrill and fun of discovery, with a skill that's easy to train and rewarding on a number of levels. There's a wide variety of areas, each with their own distinct atmospheres, as well as a lot of lore-related content.

All in all, there's a lot to like here.

The thing I like the most about archaeology are the relic powers. I just got the one that prevents runecrafting pouches from degrading, including the massive one, and that is worth everything I put into the skill.

I miss it, ever since I got 200m it seems like a waste of time (relatively speaking). Good skill. Bob says:
