So much to say, so much to do.
After 15-ish years I find it's time to write about it. Years of bank standing, escaping from the real world, spending time with friends and foes, learning and communicating. This game has been close to a third parent. To this day I still feel like Runescape has been a teacher in English, social skills and general life experience. It is not "just a game" or "just pixels" to me and I think alot of other veterans who grew up with Runescape. I would like to share some thoughts and experiences RS has brought me. For others to read and share memories or perhaps just for myself to eternalize them.
Quests
It still baffles me how many players don’t like, or straight up hate, questing. The thoughts, time, narratives and storytelling in the quests are like no other MMO. It is never “Go kill 100 of these creatures. Good job, now kill 100 of this one.” It is always connected to a story.
Sixth grade
This was back when it was still a browser game. It was the end of the school year and Runescape was booming. We had an afternoon to spend for ourselves in school. I kid you not, 20 out of the 25 children, including myself, went straight to the media room/computer room. We all played Runescape for an hour or 3 until school ended for the summer. 20 pc’s in a row just displaying Runescape and hanging out together comparing our stats and gear. It’s an experience I will never forget.
