So many positives to say; I've been part of the same clan/community on here for the last decade or so, and have been playing for nearly 2, but I've definitely always found that there are players with whom I can connect: especially during a time when it is difficult to socialize, or for someone who is not very social outside of the internet.
I've always loved how easy it is to just log on and start something; there's definitely a niche for everyone.
I've found that especially lately, this has been my little escape and I really treasure every moment I'm able to spend on here, even though it may only be to pop on for a quick herb run or to check dailies.
I found this game a few months ago through Steam and I must say that I have been treated so nicely by people that do not even know me! I was shocked and am still shocked to see that the RuneScape community has not been toxic. The reason I mentioned that is because prior to coming to play, I did some research and I read that people hate each other if one plays RS3 and the other OSRS. I have not seen that yet and I love this game!

It's unfortunate that those types of people exist, especially once you consider they are two separate games with different development teams, etc. It's fairly silly, to be honoest. To use other game franchises as examples, it would be like arguing over individual games within the Legend of Zelda or Pokemon series. Obviously inspired and built off of each other, but completely separate games and "experiences". Ultimately, whichever experience brings you the most joy is what matters, and I think most people who aren't interested in having arguments for arguments sake (unlike seemingly anyone and everyone who posts in comment sections anywhere on the internet) realize that.
You'll definitely run into toxic community members from time to time, but I think that overall the game community has improved leaps from what it used to be.
I still have some friends who play OSRS exclusively, and I remember it fondly from being a player in the early 2000s, but I am kinda attached to this ancient character now so, while I miss my pals who left RS3, I totally get the want to stay with a classic.
I'm glad you've found people are generally nice! Finding the right clan or friend chat and participating in weekly events is great, and there are little pockets of community to fill pretty much every little niche in the game
