As someone who deals with mental illness myself, this event is very near and dear to
my heart. It means so much to me! I have mild Asperger's and moderately severe bipolar among some other things and it took years to even find out what was wrong because the healthcare system for mental illness just isn't all that great, especially for low income. I'm from the US, but it seems like many places have a poor grasp of the crisis and it is heartbreaking. This event shows that Jagex is compromised of some of the seemingly few people in the world who actually care about the issue.
Last year's hit movie "Joker" was a very realistic approach to the infamous villian and also served as a tell tale look at what can happen when someone with severe mental illness is treated poorly and forsaken by the system that is supppsed to aid them. We all know that similar descents into madness to the one which is portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck do occur in this world, and it is by doing stuff like this to raise awareness and open more people's eyes that we can prevent chaos like that from happening in the real world, as well as aid those of us with less severe mental health issues.
Though this is only the second year I have been able to be playing while this event is happening, I have made it a point that every year this event is presented, I want to take the time to give a genuine thank you to Jagex from the bottom of my heart for not only including an event to grab people's attention in game, but for donating some of the money anyone spends toward the game to charities for mental health so that we actually have a chance to improve upon the failing system. I'm sure I speak for a good number of people when I say that it really means a lot.
