The year was 2004 and I was 12 years old. RS2 had launched in March. My best friends told me about the game, it kept coming up in conversation with them increasingly excited, and before I could say Guthix I was curious. I instantly created an account and began meeting up with all my boys in game, doing various activities together and having a whole lot of fun enjoying the brand new adventurous game. Not long after I started my journey, I introduced my younger cousin (brother) and he created his very first account. He also began his journey at the young age of 7. We can say we enjoyed the "Golden Age" of the game and we have very fond memories the we reminisce together.
The year was 2018 and you can do the math on my age. Oldschool had been around for a few years, but I had no pull and either played other games, or nothing at all. That was before my cousin came to me. He opened his laptop and logged in to an account on oldschool. He invited me to create an account and play with him. With my emotions stirring and thoughts of what could be I came to and before I could say Guthix I was logging into tutorial island.
Unfortunately this story doesn't have a happy ending.
My cousin and I were back in full gear, having more fun on oldschool than any other game we were playing. We gained experience, completed quests, participated in minigames! It was nostalgic and fresh at the same time! We were building our accounts, had membership, and were starting to build cash stacks. One day, out of the blue, my cousin calls me and he is distraught. He says he is unable to log into his account and when he checks the status it says he has been banned for utilizing third party software, or "botting." He and I were in disbelief. We trained together, played together and were finally playing the game we grew up loving. He appealed, reappealed, tweeted, checked status, over and over to no avail. Permaban.
