Resale souls or reaper amulet

Is it possible in anyway to repair and resale a reaper or souls amulet or is there just no way? I don't want to pay the price being so much if I can't sell it back if I don't like it. If not then what's the better of the 2 to buy and keep??

Once worn, it's permanently untradeable.

However, I believe (I'm not 100%) that you can still use a worn one to create an Essence of Finality amulet. If that is true, then you can in a way recoup some spent coins by crafting the EoF and selling that. I would probably get confirmation that this is possible though before banking on it.
