Hello everybody.

I call myself a "second-generation merchanter" , this means i am always on the lookout for new investments in modern items. Tokens are being pretty hyped up at the moment, so I try to follow their progress under a microscope and profit in doing so.

Something crazy happened with Tribal Pet Tokens a while ago.

Tribal pet token:
-01/12/2019 G.E. Price: 11 mill
-02/12/2020 G.E. Price: 295 mill
-06/12/2020 G.E. Price: 615 mill
-07/12/2020 G.E. Price: 826 mill
-08/12/2020 G.E. Price: 1200 mill
-08/12/2020 G.E. Price: 1500 mill
-08/12/2020 G.E. Price: 1800 mill
-09/12/2020 G.E. Price: 1285 mill
-22/12/2020 G.E. Price: 666 mill

Source: 17-18-124-66192404.

The G.E. price tripled in two days time and didn't stay stabile at all.

Some people were saying 'the g.e. wall of tribals is ultra thin', others were saying 'manipulation clans' are real.

If an item can be pushed like this in g.e., what does that tell us about:
1) quantity
2) shift in long term investments

Even if you would've 'bought in Tribals' a year ago at 11 mill, you would have made 60 times your bank by now. Where as a Santa had only doubled or tripled.

Is anyone noticing the same behaviour among merchants? I'm not talking about "second-generation merchanters" like myself with some fortune to spend, but I'm talking about the Bill Gates in this game. Are they shifting toward tokens as well? Because even if Tribal is reintroduced, it's always gonna be worth way more then the 11 mill one year ago.

Any thoughts?

Greetings,
_VRT
I'm done merchanting for a while, and distributed all my wealth into discontinued items. Please stop sending me for token sales and let me enjoy the game for a bit :-) . Cheerio!

People are starting to realize that partyhats are too expensive to merch. It's getting harder to find ones that are available as many people who get them today are keepsaking them and they are exiting the market. This has led to merches to have an excess of funds with less choices to put their money in to. Now some of these people have realized there is low stock on many items such as the tribal pet. So they start buying them up until they reach a price they believe that most of the supply is gone from the G.E. At this point they just hold them and maybe buy one here and there and report price. Then here comes some players I like to call OCD fashionscapers. They want to unlock everything they start buying up tokens to unlock them and create some buzz when they start asking questions like "why is tribal pet 25.5m in G.E but won't buy for 100m?" Then we explain how G.E price updating sucks and go to such and such thread for a real price. They then go and find out and buy it and whatever price and report it. Now comes the what I like to call half-assed merches, they buy a few that are in the G.E and the price rises another 20% or more. At this point, the long-term merches see a solid price and start "dumping" the ones they bought a while back maybe even years. The price dips, the half-assed merches panic and sell thiers for little gain or a loss and then begin to complain about manips and how they got screwed...blah blah blah. Then it circles back to the OCD fashionscaper who is either like oh well I got it for what I was willing to pay or they proceed to complain about "manipped" items. The price dips and finally stabilizes normally higher than it's original price because in the end it is still low supply but now the demand is gone or people fear the item is "manipped". The long term merches rebuy at the lower price and wait for the cycle to start over and people to forget or new people to come along. This cycle won't change unless the item is reintroduced. So many negative people here, don't be one of them.

To give you some background, they four main scratchcard promotions in order of release date:

Zombies, Assassin, Tribals, then Plagues.

Zombies are ~12b, Assassins are ~10b, Tribals are ~800m, and Plagues are ~2.147b currently.

The four tokens promos have the same rarity, it's just the length of time they were discontinued. Tribal Pets were released only 3 months after the Assassin Walk.

The main difference is that Tribals are a pet token. If you think they're a scam, you're more than willing to stay away from them. Other people look at the trends of the Assassin and see the potential for them to go above max cash.

If a token goes from 11m to 1800m in less than two years, don't buy it. I've unlocked the tribal pet this year. I don't remember what I paid, but I doubt I paid over 100m. I like the gem neck and gem crown, but I'm unwilling to pay what they cost in the ge.

Santa is hoarded like crazy. Fish mask, seasons items, and crab hats have gone up outrageously, according to the prices people tell me.

Tokens tend to be low supply, and they get used up; but tokens can be released again.

Santa, turkeys , and phats are much less likely to be released again.

"discontinued" in fact nothing from treasure hunter is discontinued. It's just above time for them to put yet more tokens in another chest to make all these market manipulators scream.

It's a scam item. A medium volume item because hunting 200 jadinkos was kinda a pain, but decent enough amount going around. I bought mine for like 50m max and it's kinda ugly, this is why I don't use my banner carrier imp I don't really like imp followers it'd be more desirable if it were a mini humanoid.
