Hey guys,
after careful consideration I haven't found a specific post about the seasons outfits and a couple of questions that some might find interesting before investing in it.

I was researching about crown of seasons in particular before investing and came to the conclusion that season outfits are often classified as "rare items" that were acquired through the sof/treasure hunter game through a limited time period.

Wiki pages, reddit and word-to-mouth says that these items are discontinued rares. However, in the news post from 28 June 2013 that I found in the archive they are labelled as "[...] rare piece of headwear [...] available for a limited time, and tradeable both player-to-player and on the Grand Exchange!"
It further states that it "[...] is up for grabs on the Squeal of Fortune from Friday 28th June 2013 00:00 GMT until Monday 8th July 23:59 GMT. After then, you’ll have until Monday July 22nd, when coronet components will be removed from game."

Looking at what happened with gem items I am questioning the status of crown of seasons as a real discontinued rare item. Obviously, "rare" or "rare items" does no longer imply that they are solely out of game, but rather obtainable by luck or only during certain times or under certain circumstances.

My question is therefore, are the season outfits, in particular the crown of seasons, a real discontinued rare (such as phats, hmasks, santas)? Has Jagex ever mentioned in specific if they would return them - can you name any sources that could provide thei official stance on this? Please do not quote the wiki pages or forum discussions - I know that people have strong opinions about sof or rares in general and I've read a lot of the posts and websites already. I am just interested in how likely they will be rereleased or if they are officially confirmed to be discontinued (note: rare does not mean discontinued necessarily).

Thank you, and I hope some of you know a bit more about this.

Thank you.

Technically anything besides Phats, Weens and the other OG rares are not 100% confirmed never to be rereleased again. Even Black Santa is not 100% confirmed discontinued. The ability to craft the crown of seasons, using the coronets has been removed so it's most likely not coming back but we can never be 100% sure. Same goes for the season outfit.

Personally Jagex wouldn't gain much by rerealeasing those types of items. It would be way more beneficial to create new rare "Discontinued" items. Last year December was a good example. Also, more discontinued rares means wealth can be distributed into other items and it would slow down the price pump of the OG rares.

At the end of the day buy what you like and take risks if you can. It can pay off or flop too.

Don't trust any pc's listed, any advice or talks between posts on ID forums anymore , the Manips are let loose, especially the main one with 15+ accounts posting acting as different people.. do your own research

Thank you, that kind of supports my research into it. So that means that Jagex has never officially confirmed that these items are discontinued... How likely would you say is it that we see black santa hats or crown of seasons to be rereleased? With the release of the green santa hat and golden phats, do you think the stance of Jagex is that they would rather release different versions of items than the same items again. It's been 9 years since the crown of seasons has released and I am kind of thinking about risk and reward here. The only real problem what made me thinking about it was the gem token rerelease, but we could also see this as isolated events since seasons and also the other newer rares are (apart from the season pet) not tokens...or did I get that wrong? So maybe if it is a token the chances of rerelease are higher than if they are separate obtainable or constructable items such as the crown of seasons?
Thank you anyway, helped me quite a lot to get clearity about this.

The crown is thought to be discontinued. The FMods have a list in forums; the crown and strangely the pet token are included.

The primary risk to Seasons might be that if account data is lost again, and I don’t expect it will be lost, Jagex might not be careful about false claims to Seasons items, just as they weren’t to tokens. They did care very much about correct recovery of rares, however.

To clarify, lost data can be time consuming to recover.

And I own some Seasons armour. It hasn’t gone up, suggesting I made a mistake.

Black Santa and original wreath are far more likely to be discontinued. The counter argument is what happened with turkeys. I cannot for the life of me manage to catch Covid. Perhaps it's because I didn't get vaxxed? The travails of those lacking immunity. :(

Know where this list is? I've been trying to find an accurate updated list of more or less confirmed discontinued rares out of curiosity. I know the OG ones but I cant help but imagine a couple have been added outside of crab hat and fish mask over the years.

Confirmation on its discontinued status would be nice, but theres almost 0 chance of it happening. They're one of the first attempts by jagex at "rares" the same way green santa and purple hween are the newest attempts at them, they have the same intention and could very well randomly be rereleased. I wouldn't invest in them, and they are ugly.

Officially yeah, I believe this is the right answer. Golden partyhat was last official discontinuted item.

DISCONTINUED ITEMS

=================

DISCONTINUED ITEMS:

Discontinued ..... Halloween masks, Party hats, Santa hats.
Discontinued ..... Disk of Returning, Easter egg, Half-wine, Pumpkin.
Discontinued ..... Christmas Cracker, Christmas Scythe, Christmas Tree hat.

Discontinued .....
Cloak of Seasons, Crown of Seasons, Pet of Seasons token.

Discontinued ..... Crab hat, Fish mask, Holly Wreath.

Source:- RuneScape Trading Directory

Hope that helps. Anything thats on that list has been confirmed 1 way or the other by Jagex to be Discontinued hence the list the F-Mods use. Anything NOT on the list is subjective.

Just to add after checking the date this thread was made almost 6 months ago.

We have 2 other newer threads sort of discussing the same thing. You can add to either thread.

Thread 1 here:- Jagex's transparancy on items

Thread 2 here:- Jagex PLEASE: We need clarity.
