I have been following movement on the inquisitors staff since it was released where it originally was very easy to get at a 1/500,000 drop rate, since being change to 1/1,000,000 chance to get a single piece.

Upon checking today i have discovered it's been changed again to 1/3,000,000 to now get a single piece.

So to create the staff is it really 3/9,000,000 since their is 3 pieces to collect? and how come their was nothing posted in the patch notes?

Is this now the hardest item to receive as a drop in runescape? and why is it so hard as it's only a tier 80 weapon?

It's much more common at the highest level archaeology spots in Kharid-Et. About 1/90k with the pylons on if I recall rightly.

The weapon is functionally tier 97 anyway. Nobody's gonna use it on anything it doesn't work on, and it works on a *lot* of things. It's balanced in between t90 and t92 weapons, much like the other two hexhunter weapons.

The information i have used is from Runescape Wiki.

For 1 piece these are the drop rates at these levels 118, 114, 107.

War table debris 118 Archaeology-icon.png 1 1/150000
Praetorian remains 114 Archaeology-icon.png 1 1/225000
Ancient magick munitions 107 Archaeology-icon.png 1 1/300000

At all other levels from level 12 to 106 is a 1/3000000 chance at getting a single piece keeping in mind that it's either going to take you along time to get to level 107 archaeology or if you want to speed it up it's going to be costly.

The drop rate of an Inquistor staff piece was never revealed prior to the hotfix applied on April 21st, which nerfed the drop rates.

From the April 27th Patch Notes thread:
Hotfix: Tweaked the drop rates of the Inquisitor Staff pieces and the Spear of Annihilation tip.

During the live stream on April 28th, it was revealed that:
• the drop rate was nerfed to 1 in 1,000,000 chance for any one piece (i.e. 1 in 3,000,000 chance for a specifc piece) outside of the Praetorium.
• the drop rate was nerfed to 1 in 50,000, 1 in 75,000 and 1 in 100,000 chance for any one piece (i.e. 1 in 150,000, 1 in 225,000 and 1 in 300,000 chance for a specific piece) from the level 107, 114 and 118 spots respectively, within the Praetorium.
• when the pylon buff is active, the drop rates are improved by 10%.

There has been no change since that drop rate nerf on April 21st. I think you're misunderstanding the numbers given on the RS Wiki.
Clue Drops -> 3a Range Top (h357), 3a Full Helm (h439), 3a Druidic Staff (e969), Barrows Dye (h1755, h2546, e680, e1567, e2038, e2160, m480, m783, m862), Shadow Dye (e510, e1970, e1985, h2948), Ice Dye (e1539, e2804), 3a Dye (e3129)

I'd like to know how close I am with the odds. I've been doing nothing but Lvl 118 spot in Praetorium now for about a week. So per wiki.....without caring which of the 3 pieces I get odds should be 1 in 50,000 or 1 in 45,454 with pylon.

Currently at - 91 damaged Primo Legio, 90 damaged Battle Plans, and 86 damaged Ancient Globes. And not 1 Inquisitor Staff Piece.

Don't forget, too, that you are not guaranteed to receive a piece you are missing. You may receive five censors in a row. And, no telling how much it will cost you to buy any missing pieces. Sure, you can sell your five censors, but there is no guarantee you will buy the missing item without paying through the nose for it.

I can tell you from experience that, when it comes to very high priced items, the value figure The Grand Exchange (Jagex) suggests high priced items should sell for, is not what you will end up paying—unless you wait forever for that lucky break.

You can exchange any piece for another for 10m through Soran, though. So if you wound up with 3 censor pieces, you could chuck 20m at getting the other 2 instead of gambling the GE. (Or ironman.)
