Why has the price of logs shot up suddenly?

I just sold 1k logs to a player who offered 1.5M.

Surprised by what appeared to be a very generous price, I checked the price on the Wiki, and found that this was slightly below the current GE price.

I know that the Golden Party Hat and the Secret Santa are doing odd things to the economy at the moment, but anyone who wants logs for Fletching or Firemaking for the Artisan shard would do better to cut them himself for the Gathering shard.

Can anyone explain this?

You need around 100-120 regular logs per account to get to 15 Firemaking before you can use oaks.

People are using alts to farm GPH which is pushing the price up, thats all.
