The latest news regarding Hero Pass is there won't be the next one after December 3.

While Jagex said they may pursue a new reward system, they already told us about the new Combat Relancing initiative.

My initial thought is bring back Yak Track or the improved version, but they won't be selling skips. There will also be no Content Buffs with Membership/paid disparity. So be happy with more free to all members Thok's Buffs etc.

Your thoughts?

I'm actually sort of interested in your thoughts Dilbert, since you specifically stated many times how wonderful the hero pass was and how amazing and good the content was, and how jagex was right the whole time.

But it seems like the whole Hero Pass house of cards came crashing down, and the players overwhelmingly saw it for what it was, Garbage.

It can't be denied either, Jagex is literally going to discontinue the entire thing, they spent so much time working on the Hero Pass and it was hated so much they are going to just never do one again, that is very interesting to me.

Remember when we discussed the hero pass before, and you assured me over and over and over again how much better the Hero Pass was? What happened there.


I think it's great that they won't be doing another one, but they will probably just retry in a year. This was only a mistake because it was hurting profits.
Hero Pass could have made runescape a worse game, but as long as it brought in more money than it was losing, then Jagex would have kept it.

Profits will always take precedent over the player experience.

Runescape is a profit generating asset, and the CUSTOMERS are sub units of that asset.
So long as money is being generated, the company cares not whether the sub units are happy or unhappy, their unhappiness is only an issue when it affects how much they pay.

Let me refresh your memory. I wasn't talking about how great Hero Pass was. All the time I was talking about how Jagex made Hero Pass better every week with better updates. You just kept putting up the same "reasons" over and over again like your personal opinions on the cosmetics.

Nobody said a piece of content has to last forever. Jagex is telling us they are going with Community Consultation, and the next reward system they put up will certainly not have buyable content. We don't know how is it like other than they also told us we are going to have Combat Reblaning as their next content foucs.

Unless you can tell us how a reward system (perhaps similar to Yak Trak) but without the buyable content buffs and skips can be worse than what we have now, there is no reason to think whatever the next reward system they put up will be worse than the current Hero Pass which is going to end on December 3 this year.

Dilbert, this is exactly what I wanted as a player (and was EXACTLY the hope of that thread I created that you said was going to look "bad." Don't worry, I don't need an apology.)

1. Hero Pass dies and Jagex, if they decide they are going to pursue a new reward system, is going to commit to making players involved in the process instead of trying to sneak the update in under the cover of darkness? Some are being sore winners by denying Jagex did the right thing there - but I'll give them their flowers. It takes courage and grace to admit something like that and vow to do better.

2. Combat rebalancing with player engagement? This one's objectively a win - as the game desperately needs the combat triangle to catch up with Necromancy and players are far more keen to want to assist in the process here than with a battle pass they never wanted in the first place.

Your old thread looks really bad now, as Jagex is listening to the RS3 community, totally discrediting your repeatedly failed attempts to try to steer the topic back to the original Hero Pass a month ago.

Jagex is clearly sending us a clear message that future rewards systems will be built with the help of the RS3 community and will not involve Content Buffs with membership/paid disparity.

Furthermore, they have already told us at least one major content - Combat Rebalancing, they will be giving us. This should totally shut down the disingenuous folks who kept trying to going back to what RS3 said months ago and arguing if the next reward system is their major update.

Free lootboxes without membersip/paid disparity should be great for everybody in RS3.

Essentially they will just be Hero Satchels that can't be bought with membership/paid disparity.

You never understood the point of the thread to begin with. You never understood why I kept hammering Jagex over and over about the past even when you thought it didn't matter. That's on you. Not me.

1. I made that thread with the hopes that Jagex -would- listen to the community. Like actually. In as many different areas where they could receive feedback as possible. The RSOF in particular is a place that has very little interaction with players - but I was confident the masses would take to X and Reddit and was doubly assured when YouTubers were openly critical at the onset of the update and worn down by the time we got to the dates you arbitrarily wanted to focus on. I wanted the RSOF to have the same energy the rest of the RS community had.

2. The point of the thread was never to misdirect anyone. Period. In the first page of that thread I offered my feedback on Jagex's most recent changes - which you blatantly ignored when accusing me of saying I never cared about the latest updates. There brings me to my last point.

3. My big bet - was that Hero Pass wasn't going to be turned into a "good update" simply because players were forced to rescue it. Players would take any opportunity given to tell them it was unnecessary, there wouldn't be votes of confidence so much as there would be ambiguity at best, etc. I won that bet - because Hero Pass died before the survey period even ended. It was never about living in the past and ignoring the present. It was about reminding Jagex that even the future wasn't something that would be good enough with an update like Hero Pass. They listened.

If you want to talk about your thread, please go back to your thread. I am posting my thread for discussion of the CURRENT state of Hero Pass, and the future of whatever new reward system. If you want to talk about Hero Pass NOW and new rewards system in the future, please share your opinion, otherwise please don't hijack my thread. Thanks for your cooperation.
