So back when they released rs3 on steam, one of the developers said they want runescape everywhere and that they plan on coming to more platforms. Now i know runescape is a M&K type game, but i can definitely see them making it work as well as allowing both controller and M&K input. i mean XB1, PS4, Xbox Series consoles, and the PS5 all have M&K support as well. When runescape came to steam, there was a massive influx of new players. I know a lot of people who were raised on consoles and never tried PC games. The MMORPG games on console are kind of lacking except for ESO and FF which are currently World of Warcrafts biggest competitors. I think runescape coming to console would bring them a lot more money in the long run. It is definitely do able. Nothing with technology is impossible. They keep growing and bringing in more and more money every year. What do you all think? Can Jagex pull it off?

I think the only problem with runescape coming to consoles that every other MMO (that has come to console) doesn't have is the problem of is the grid-based movement system. That would be an incredibly clunky movement option for controller players.

The core of how the game works would have to be changed, the tick system and the grid system. While technically the former isn't as much of an issue since FF14 has a GCD time of 2.5 seconds, it makes up for that with skills that can used off of that GCD time.

All in all, i don't think it would be worth jagex's time and resources to invest in a console version of the game given how long it's taken to get the mobile version out.

Mod Pips said they are already doing it, but it is only at the early stage and not announcement-ready.

Yes, Runescape on Console has huge potential, at least 10x bigger than Steam where most PC players have heard about Runescape in these 20 years, however, there is still technology problems and Jagex will have to successfully put their new platform on Cloud first as they don't want to divide the community.

I can see them picking up speed with Runescape on Console after Mobile. That should be in a few months, however, don't expect the Console version of Runescape in at least 3 more years.

FFXIV is on console and PC. It runs amazing! Both allow you to use either the keyboard or a gamepad to play so this is very nice. The Nintendo Switch has an MMO which allows the use of a gamepad and it is also on PC as well. You do move a cursor around when in the settings and stuff using a joystick.

Basically, RS3 would need to have gamepad support. Obviously, we need WASD support with the removal of the grid system that we are in.
