MOD SPONGE: NEW GEMSTONE
It seems like Mod Sponge can't quite get Necromancy off his mind and so is cooking up something sparkly, very particular choice of colour.

So we may be getting a new gemstone soon. We haven't had a new gemstone since 2014 or almost 9 years ago. It is about time we get new and flashy jewelries.

What do you think the new gemstone is and what it is going to be used?

It looks like turquoise from the picture, and they mentioned Necromancy. Will they be Necromancer only jewelries?

At this stage, I think there may be more new usages outside Necromancy and combat, perhaps new skiller rings to supplement new Fort Fronthry updates to be announced later.

I wonder what tier it will be and how it will be earned. Is it meant to be the next step up from hydrix?

I would almost want the gem to be unique from mining or some other unique source (possibly related to Necromancy).

It'll be interesting to see how it's implemented.

I'll second Dilbert and say that it's a new gemstone and agree with him that it may be Turquoise.

I'll have to be contrarian to those who believe this gem is particularly high-level content for a number of reasons. Primarily, because it's possible Necromancy eventually gets a special attack item one may want to use an Essence of Finality for, I can see some jewelry with all-style bonuses getting Necromancy bonuses on release, and in any case, Necromancy does have a significant need at lower levels for accessories that augment its power and accuracy on the way up if it is to feel like the skill has always existed or belongs in RuneScape.

So, playing it safe, here's what I think happens!

Turquoise jewelry requires the gemstone and usual crafting materials (gold, wool, etc.), and in order to add in the beneficial effects for Necromancy one must enchant it with a fairly low-to-mid level Enchant spell.

> (Amulet) Amulet of Necromancy
>> 18.7 style bonus applied to Necromancy damage.
>> Available to F2P players.

Plain and simple here, this is the early-game Necromancy army, competing only with an Amulet of Power's slight decrease in efficacy but ability to provide boosts to all styles.

> (Necklace) Death's Grasp
>> Teleports the player to various Necromancy locales, such as the ritual site in Um or Death's Office.
>> Uses charges (can be compacted and used in Passages with Invention)
>>> Finds a lasting use as the quickest A-to-B connection between the player and Death, allowing for quick access his services (Death costs, Reapers)

> (Ring) Ring of Ritual
>> boosts duration of active events during Necromancy rituals, has a chance to improve output of materials.

> (Bracelet) Bangle of the Undying
>> boosts the amount of Necromancy Runes crafted, and possibly improves the conversion rate of Pure to Impure Essence during Rituals.

Tier- Lower than Diamond

Use- Leans away from combat aside from Ammy, due to the head-to-toe Necromancy set.

Note that they are only suggesting one new gemstone. It may not even be any tier if they don't come from traditional gathering activities.

We get hydrix from Death. We don't mine hydrix, so we may just get the new gemstone as a reward of some new Necromancy activities. However, like hydirx which although comes from Death, is not specific to just Death or combat usages.

I am going to guess the new gemstone comes from new City of Um activities, and like most RS3 gear, combat stat is not that important as they will have much better usages than just cookie cutter rings that give apparently the BiS combat slightly better than Fremmenik rings but nothing else. New rings may boost adrenaline gain rate, reduce self-inflicted damage from necromancy attacks, increase duration of summoned undead etc.

Unless they are something we can mine from gem rocks and use for jewelry in crafting, I don't really care. There are too many things in this game we obtain in ways that are not related to our skills. We can't mine onyx and we can't mine hydrix. I hope this is not another one of those.
