They might re-release it as a surprise, but as of now this is what they have in store for previous rewards:

"New this year is the Oddments Store, where you can trade in your extra bits and pieces for any of the previous years’ Beach rewards, including the Pufferfish Launcher, the Crusty Companion pet and the Banana Boat mount."

Note that it does say
any

Was the swimming outfit not a activitet reward for max termometer x times and not a reward token?

As this year beach event is shorter then it was in the past, you might hav a hard time unless you hav max termometer some times in the past?? (it used to carry over from past times around)

The 2018 Beach Event was my first, and while I can't say with 100% certainty than I filled up every single one of my temperature bars over the course of the event, I ended up short of having enough for the Beach Swimwear set so I'm not sure if it'd be possible to unlock it from scratch this year even before the shorter duration is factored in.
