I personally do not own the new Dragon Scimitar override, but I, potentially contrary to popular opinion, actually do not mind that it doesn't allow me to pay for it with Loyalty Points, and I also really like that Jagex has put a modern spin on the weapon alongside the original.

There's a special place in my heart for a lot of that older gear - and when RuneScape made the move to the current models for it, where the earlier tier smithable armors (that existed before the mining and smithing rework) strayed from being "knightly" to something closer to a Megazord from Power Rangers, I was a bit put off by the direction of the gear when it happened. I've warmed on those armors since, but this leads me to my hope with 'retro' overrides in the future, and potentially those in the past as well....

As I understand it, Jagex moved from releasing all of the retro overrides that were voted upon by the community as a bundle from the outset to trialing the Dragon Scimitar with both its 'retro' and 'remastered' variants this week as its own bundle and offering a discount for the initial bundle for those who went ahead and bought the Scimitars now.

If they were to do this with, for example, the replica armors (Bronze-Rune, as well as the upcoming God and Gilded set), I would happily cough up some cash for RuneCoins, even though I already own the first set and may want a lesser fee for just the 'remastered' variants.

There's an interesting divide in the community on retro graphics it seems. Some players like the original designs of the gear and don't mind that it harms the graphical fidelity of the game when they are traipsing around using an outdated model in order to use it.

Others believe the older graphics clash horrendously with the rest of the game's surroundings and can't justify using retro gear.

The Dragon Scimitar bundle found a neat way to appeal to both types of players, and I kinda hope the art team 'remasters' other retro items too!
