Why are you even doing this Jagex? The horse has already bolted. Too late closing the gate now. Are you just thinking about future money loss? Just leave the playing field even for everyone! Do you truly want us to believe that you didnt know what the xp rates were going to be? Stand aside Elizabeth Holmes, there are new narcissists on the scene :(
Why not just fess up and say that you blew out the xp rates for the elite racers and affluent players to engage their PTW abilities? Please do not treat us all like fools and, leave it the same for all. We all pay you, in one way or another. Why bite the hand that feeds you??

To be fair.. I am with you OP and torn on this subject matter as per I truly enjoy the current wicked Necro Ritual xp (albeit not at all afk). Although, I sadly missed the initial 3-4 few days after release per illness / irl stuff

-I relate to anyone in that regard but luckily grinded out the prestigious 120. Thank the great heavens! :handstothesky:

With that said, I hope the nerf isn't too bad however I'm an optimist but also a realist so let's play it by ear and I eagerly await to see if the truly enjoyable Necromancy ritual rates have been cut, by a percentage close to ~20% (that's what I've heard/pure speculation ofc/patch notes have the accurate #s).

Either way, I look forward to the roadmap ahead by Jagex and I went absolutely wild to grind out that 120 recently , personally- it felt great!

It had to be done (as per, I was un-able to play during the previous archaeology release :\) but the come-back is real! :D

I'm with you here. The thought that everyone before me gained more than I am leaves a sour taste. I didn't get much game time as I'd of liked this month, that shouldn't be punishable, which I think it sort of is. They should of left it as it was or nerfed sooner.

Keep in mind, they only nerfed rituals, not Necromancy as a whole.

Partial response is that as a dev, you can't always make a change like this in a few hours. Sometimes, you need to see if it is "working as intended" vs "bug/loophole abuse". (Invention had the problem early on). Sometimes you also need to make sure that this is not just something a few players or doing or something everyone is doing.

Jagex had probably intended for everyone to use Necromancy more for combat. Not just do Rituals all the time, just do Rituals enough for whatever it was they needed to unlock. Ofc, game design and actual player intent don't always mesh.
Once everyone started doing Rituals instead of heavy combat ... devs probably realized they needed to do something.
They could have stayed silent and nerfed the XP rate by 50+% and left it at that. They didn't. They got player feedback early on. So they still cut the rate by 10-20%.

At least they didn't wait 9-12 months after release to do it. Or guess they could have and by then, most of the players would have been 120 anyways.

Keep in mind that I'm trying to convey they had to take time to analyze what was contributing to the XP rate.
Were random events spawning too quickly? Were certain tiers causing certain tiers of randoms to spawn too quickly?

Devs also needed to weigh options. Just reduce XP? Reduce occurrence of randoms? Reduce occurrences of certain randoms? Include something else all together?
