Traditional Pickpocketing has been a broken feature for years, and today we saw a small change and some new additions - clearly Jagex have finally seen that there are inherent issues with traditional pickpocketing, and they've rectified those errors!

Or so I hoped.

Pickpocketing is still broken.

The "new" feature allowing you to continue pickpocketing is not a new feature. It's merely been made commonplace from the start of the skill rather than it being a reward from the elite outfit and/or the Sticky Fingers relic. Given the failure rates when close to the level of your target, this update is useful to barely anybody.

And now we have some new Crux Eqal Knights to add to the equation. These require level 83 Thieving to pickpocket, but even at level 99, I am failing more than I am successful. What's the point of the "new" feature when I rarely get more than one successful pickpocket in a row anyway?

This was a perfect opportunity for Jagex to look at how the whole pickpocketing experience can be improved. Not only have they fallen short of this, it seems they didn't even bother trying. The Quality Assurance team really do need to start testing this content without the quest locked boosts currently on offer for Thieving.

Please note, this is not merely a rant about the recent update. Please check out the thread below which goes into more detail regarding my angst against pickpocketing, and ideas on how the mechanic can be vastly improved.
